Upcoming Renault Kwid EV spied in India for the first time under heavy camouflage.
Renault Kwid EV is essentially the Dacia Spring EV sold in the overseas markets.
Gets a 26.8kWh battery with a claimed range of around 220km.
Likely to be launched by March 2026, rivaling the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.
The next-gen Renault Kwid EV (Dacia Spring EV) has been spotted in India for the very first time. While there is no word yet about its launch, both Renault and Nissan have confirmed that it will be introducing an affordable electric car in India by March 2026. And considering that this car is an EV and is seen on our shores, this just could be that entry-level EV from these brands.
The spy shots of the Kwid EV reveal slight design details like the split headlamp setup and anEV specific enclosed grille with the charging port behind the logo. You can also notice the large air intakes in the front bumper for cooling the batteries.

The side profile resembles the current Kwid ICE with a hunkered up stance and this particular test mule was spotted with steel-wheels. The rear gets an integrated spoiler and shark-fin antenna. It also gets a rear windshield wiper with defogger and vertically stacked reflectors on the redesigned bumpers down below.

Though not clear in the spied images, the next-gen Kwid EV will get a new dashboard layout with a new three-spoke steering wheel. It is anticipated to be feature packed with niceties such as a floating 10-inch infotainment system, likely to be with wireless connectivity for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Furthermore, it could also feature a digital driver’s display, automatic climate control and a wireless phone charger.

For the global market, the Spring EV (Kwid EV) also gets ADAS Level 1 features like lane keep assist and emergency braking.
The Dacia Spring EV sold in the international markets gets two powertrain options. It gets a 26.8kWh battery pack which can be had with either a 45 PS or a 65 PS e-motors. . It gets a WLTP claimed range of approximately 220 km on a full charge with the possibility of charging from 10 percent to 80 percent in 45 minutes using DC fast charging. The international models also get V2L ( Vehicle to Load ) feature which enables sharing of battery charge to power up appliances.
If the new Renault Kwid EV is confirmed for the Indian market, it could carry a price tag of around Rs 7 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival other small EVs like the Tata Tiago EV and MG Comet EV.
