2027 KTM 790 Duke Unveiled Overseas

The 2027 KTM 790 Duke has been revealed overseas, and while the engine remains unchanged, KTM has given its middleweight naked a proper makeover. According to the official website the bike has been designed in Austria, and assembled in China. It gets a completely refreshed design, revised ergonomics, updated suspension, a new TFT console and has even shed some weight, which should make it an even sharper package than before.

Looks Meaner Than Ever

The biggest talking point here is the styling. The new 790 Duke now takes clear inspiration from the bigger KTM 1390 Super Duke R, giving it a much more aggressive streetfighter look. Up front, there’s an all-new LED headlight with fang-like DRLs, while the muscular tank extensions feature sharper cuts and creases. The rear section has also been redesigned with a slimmer, upswept tail where the tail-light and indicators are integrated into a single unit. Fresh graphics and KTM’s signature bright orange paint scheme further enhance its visual appeal. It now gets a redesigned, and larger exhaust mounted in the familiar upswept manner.

Lighter Than Before

Although the motorcycle continues to use the same chromium-molybdenum steel frame, KTM has introduced a new black-finished subframe and made revisions to the swingarm. Suspension duties are handled by a 43mm WP Apex USD fork and a WP monoshock. The front fork offers compression and rebound adjustability, while the rear monoshock gets preload and rebound adjustment, allowing riders to fine-tune the setup. The bike continues to ride on 17-inch alloy wheels with twin 300mm front disc brakes and a 240mm rear disc. More importantly, the new model weighs 185kg, making it 2kg lighter than its predecessor.

Same Punchy Parallel-Twin

Powering the new Duke is the familiar 799cc LC8c parallel-twin engine, producing 105PS and 87Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The riding position has also been revised with a redesigned seat, repositioned footpegs and a new adjustable tapered handlebar that allows riders to adopt a sportier riding posture.

New Additions  

The feature list now includes a new colour TFT display, all-LED lighting, multiple ride modes, traction control and other electronic rider aids.One noteworthy addition is the 4-year warranty, which should help improve buyer confidence, especially considering the reliability concerns associated with the earlier batches of the 790 Duke.

Will It Return To India?

The updated KTM 790 Duke is expected to reach international dealerships soon. As for India, KTM has not confirmed any launch plans yet, but with this comprehensive update, it would certainly make for an exciting addition to the brand’s middleweight lineup if it returns.
