Yamaha X-Max 300 Maxi-Scooter Unveiled

Yamaha Motorcycles has unveiled the X-Max 300, a maxi-scooter offering that will replace the X-Max 250, currently being sold in the European market. Maxi-scooters contribute to a good percentage of two wheelers in the European market. The Japanese bike maker will officially debut the N-Max 300 at the upcoming 2016 EICMA Motorcycle Show held in Milan. 

The basic design of the X-Max 300 is very similar to the N-Max that was showcased by Yamaha in India at the 2016 Auto Expo. The X-Max 300, however, carries an aggressive design language with sharp and sculpted body lines. At the front, the maxi-scooter gets twin LED headlights, a large windscreen, sculpted front mudguard and clear lens side indicators that are flushed with the fairing. A similar twin-split design for the tail lamps has been used that wrap around the body of the vehicle. The X-Max 300 comes with a single piece step-up seat with lower back support for the rider. 

The Yamaha X-Max 300 has been built on a chassis that has been completely redesigned. Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and twin shock absorbers at the back. Yamaha has opted for different alloy wheel sizes for the X-Max 300. While the front comes with a 15-inch wheel, the rear gets a 14-inch wheel. Stopping power is achieved by disc brakes at both ends with ABS as a standard fitment.

In terms of storage space, X-Max 300 has a humongous under seat space that can gobble up two helmets with space left for other items. It also features a power socket to charge electronic devices. On the equipment front, it gets keyless ignition, traction control and a semi-digital instrument console. While the speedometer and tachometer are analogue gauges, a display located between them provides other information such as fuel gauge, engine temperature, odometer, trip meter and other tell-tale lights. 

Yamaha has not disclosed the engine specifications which will be only known after the official debut. Few things that can be assumed about the motor are that it will be a single-cylinder, liquid cooled and Euro-4 compliant.

Expect the X-Max 300 to go on sale in the European market by March 2017. While India launch is doubtful at this moment, we can only hope that Yamaha currently considers launching the N-Max in India.
