Both bikes are based on Yamaha’s 1300cc air-cooled in-line four engine, making 99PS of maximum power and 108Nm of torque. The XJR has new styling including a slim-line fuel tank, solo seat and aluminium bodywork. The XJR also gets a new four-into-one black exhaust, shortened sub frame, tapered aluminium bars, new instrument panel and Ohlins rear suspension.
For the last five years, Yamaha has been working closely with various professional custom builders to create a series of concept machines together. The concept was to transform modern Yamaha motorcycles into what Yamaha has entitled ‘Yard Built Specials’.
The shared experience has provided a lot of inspiration in product development, and Yamaha has started to incorporate custom design into factory bike production as a result, a release from Yamaha noted. Built in collaboration with Wrenchmonkees and Deus Ex Machina, Yamaha offers a range of parts to further customize the bikes according to personal choice.

The XJR 1300 was unveiled ahead of the Intermot Cologne motorcycle show alongwith the XJR1300 racer, a sportier version with more of a café racer look. The Racer edition features carbon bodywork including the front mudguard, handlebar fairing and pillion seat cover. Both versions come in blue, matt grey or black.
Pricing in Europe is € 10,395 (a little over Rs 8 lakh) for the XJR 1300 and € 11,590 (just over Rs 9 lakh). For now, they are only available in Europe. Even if they are finally imported to India, expect a massive jump in prices with import and customs duties slapped on the machines.
