Its glad tidings for Yamaha fans as the production version of the R25 Concept will be unveiled on March 25. For this purpose, the tuning fork brand has set-up a special website called ‘Revstation’ and released a teaser video showing the line drawing of the production version motorcycle. Recently Yamaha had trademarked the YZF-R3 giving rise to speculation that the bike will be launched in two versions - 250cc and 300cc. The smaller displacement variant will be launched in the Asian market whereas the 300cc offering will be launched in Europe and United States.

The Yamaha R25 Concept was also showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo, where it was generated lot of curiosity among the Indian two-wheeler enthusiasts. According to the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer, the R25 is a superbike that one can use every day and for this purpose it employs a high-revving 250cc, parallel-twin mill which is rumoured to pump out around 35PS of power. The bike features tubular chassis, telescopic fork suspension in front and employs monoshock suspension at the rear. Disc brakes have been provided at both front and rear, whether it would sport ABS remains uncertain. Also Read: Yamaha R25 Concept showcased at Tokyo

According to Yamaha the R25 will be positioned as an entry-model in the sport bike category for developed markets like Japan and Europe, while in our country and other Asian markets it will be a performance sports bike. Since the bike was showcased at the Auto Expo, it is certain that the Yamaha R25 will head to our shores but it will be interesting to see in which avatar. Since the bike is powered by a parallel-twin engine, it wouldn’t be cheap by any means hence there was speculation that Yamaha might bring in a single-cylinder version to our country. In the current twin-cylinder guise, the Yamaha R25 will be pitched against the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and Suzuki Inazuma and should be priced closed to Rs 3 lakh.
