The TVS Apache RTR 300 is among the most highly anticipated new motorcycle launches of 2017. The bike was first showcased in concept form at the 2016 Auto Expo where it was called the ‘Akula 310.’ Since then, the first full-faired motorcycle from TVS has created a lot of curiosity among Indian bikers. Arun Siddarth, Vice President (Marketing), Motorcycles, TVS Motor Company, has announced that TVS will launch a new motorcycle by July or August, 2017. The new motorcycle in question is the Apache RTR 300. The bike has been spotted testing on many occasions and it is based on the BMW G 310 R that is being manufactured by TVS at its production facility in Hosur.

The Apache RTR 300 has a sporty styling and features twin-LED projector headlamps which has been placed below the large windscreen. Another interesting design trait of the bike is the pincer-type LED tail light that looks distinctive. The test bike was sporting similar alloy wheels, exhaust muffler, golden-finished USD forks and switchgear as seen on the BMW G 310 R. The upcoming bike sports an all-digital instrument console and LED turn indicators. Underneath the full-faired body sits a single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine as seen on the BMW G 310 R. On the German motorcycle, the motor develops 34PS of peak power and 28Nm of maximum torque. We suspect that the engine will be tuned to suit the characteristics of the TVS bike. Its arch rival, the KTM RC 390’s motor pushes out 43.5PS of peak power and 36Nm of maximum torque. The engine on the TVS Apache RTR 300 is expected to be more refined than the KTM motor and power delivery will also be mellowed in comparison.

Power will be transmitted to the rear-wheel via a 6-speed gearbox, but whether the new motorcycle gets slipper clutch or not remains to be seen. Cycle parts on the TVS Apache RTR 300 is also similar to the BMW G 310 R, which includes a steel trellis frame, USD forks and monoshock unit at the rear. Braking is done by disc brakes on both ends and ABS is likely to be a standard fitment. Talking about price, given the fact that the new TVS Apache RTR 300 shares so much parts with the BMW offering, we expect the bike to be priced between Rs 2 and 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom).
