Here’s What TVS Has Changed On The New Apache RR 310

The updated flagship motorcycle gets electronic goodies

Stepping into the BS6 era, the TVS Apache RR 310 BS6 has been launched at an attractive Rs 2.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). When compared to its BS4 version, the BS6 Apache RR310 costs Rs 12,000 more. There aren’t many changes that one can spot with the naked eye. But hidden behind the fairing are several updates to make your riding experience better than before. Here are the changes:

Electronic aids

The BMW-developed 312.2cc single-cylinder motor continues to pump out 34PS and 27.3Nm as before. However, the engine now gets ride-by-wire with four riding modes: Rain, Urban, Sport and Track. In the first two modes, the output is curbed to 25.8PS and 25Nm.

TVS has also tuned the ABS intervention to give varied levels of intervention depending on the riding mode. There is maximum intervention in Rain mode while Track has the least. Urban and Sport modes have the same ABS tune. Sadly, you cannot shut off intervention on just the rear wheel or completely.

Plus, TVS has also given the RR 310 BS6 the Glide Through Traffic+ (GTT+) feature. This is an advanced version of the GTT that we had seen on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V BS6 and the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V BS6. The feature is active on the first two gears in Track mode and in all gears of Urban mode.

Information console

Gone is the vertically stacked LCD digital cluster and in its stead you get a 5-inch full colour TFT screen. It is equipped with TVS’ SmartXonnect Bluetooth-technology where in you get call alerts and turn-by-turn navigation. On the dedicated app, you will get post ride analytics, vehicle health info and status.

The console is controlled via switches on the right hand side, as TVS has also given a hazard toggle switch on this bike.

Tyres

Replacing the old Michelin Pilot Sport tyres, the new RR 310 gets stickier Michelin Road 5 rubber. The new tyres are W rated, capable of handling speeds up to 270kmph. However, the Road 5 tyres are said to offer better grip in wet conditions, an area where we felt the old Pilot Sports felt out of breath.
