Although the Defender Octa will be sold in two variants, it will be offered only in the 110 body style

Back in July 2024, Land Rover revealed the most powerful and capable version of the Defender, the Octa, featuring styling and performance upgrades. The highlight of these upgrades is its V8 powertrain, and mechanical upgrades that make the Defender even more capable off-road.

Now, the brand is all set to launch the Defender Octa in India tomorrow with its 2025 model year updates. Dubbed the most powerful Defender, here’s everything you need to know ahead of its debut.

Land Rover Defender Octa Looks…

The Land Rover Defender Octa will be available exclusively with the 110 body style, which is a 5-door version of the off-road SUV. It retains the muscular design of the standard model, while featuring rugged styling elements for a more exclusive and capable stance. These include revised front and rear bumpers for improved approach and departure angles, along with underbody protection to enhance off-road capability.

The Defender Octa also features an updated front grille that improves airflow, while a quad exhaust setup at the rear adds a sporty touch. Other exclusive touches include flared wheel arches, a 319mm ground clearance, and 22-inch alloy wheels.

Land Rover Defender Octa Cabin

Major upgrades inside the Defender Octa include cabin themes for a more personalized feel. Buyers can choose between Burnt Sienna and Ebony or Light Cloud and Lunar for the Octa variant, while the Octa Edition One comes with a Khaki and Ebony theme.

Other enhancements in the Defender Octa include performance seats with an integrated headrest and improved bolstering for added support, along with Body and Soul Seat audio technology, which uses haptic motors to create vibrations in sync with the car’s audio system. However, these upgrades are equipped only to the front-row seats of the Defender Octa.

Land Rover Defender Octa Features

While the full feature list of the Defender Octa is yet to be revealed, it will likely carry over amenities from the standard model. These include an 11.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, 14-way powered seats, heated and ventilated seats, a 14-speaker Meridian sound system, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and a head-up display.

On the safety front, it will likely come equipped with ABS with EBD, six airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera, and ADAS features such as blind spot assist, adaptive cruise control, and rear pre-collision assist.

Land Rover Defender Octa Powertrain and Driving Upgrades

Underneath the hood, the Defender Octa packs a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology, that puts out 635 PS and 750 Nm. Power is sent to all four wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. When launch control is engaged, the torque spikes to 800 Nm, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4 seconds.

Coming to driving upgrades, the Defender Octa boasts hydraulically interlinked 6D Dynamics suspension technology, which combined with continuously variable semi-active dampers, adapts to road surfaces in real time for a smoother ride across terrains. It also includes longer and tougher wishbones, along with 400 mm front brake discs and Brembo calipers, ensuring strong stopping power. Land Rover also claims it delivers reduced body roll in on-road conditions and boasts the fastest steering ratio ever in a Defender.

Land Rover Defender Octa Price and Rivals

While Land Rover announced prices for the Defender Octa in July 2024, ranging between Rs 2.65 crore and Rs 2.85 crore (ex-showroom), we expect the 2025 Defender Octa to be priced similarly. It rivals the likes of the Lamborghini Urus, BMW XM, and Porsche Cayenne.
