It will be the only maxi-style scooter on sale in India when launched

Suzuki seems to be on a roll lately. After launching the Suzuki GSX-S750, the Japanese company is now all set to launch the Burgman Street 125 by the end of May or early June. However, the maxi-styled scooter will not have an easy sail here. Despite targeting a different set of audience in the 125cc scooter segment, it will face serious competition from the TVS NTorq, Honda Grazia and the Aprilia SR 125. We expect it to be priced around Rs 60,000 - Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom).

While the India-bound Suzuki Burgman Street might not be an out-and-out maxi scooter, like the one sold internationally, it certainly has an imposing stance. This is courtesy its muscular overall design, large windscreen at the front, a chunky handlebar and split LED headlamps. There's also a fully digital instrument console that sits between the handlebar and the windscreen.

Just like a typical maxi scooter, the rider seat is low-set compared to the pillion’s which is broad enough to fit anyone comfortably. There is also a single-piece grab rail and an LED taillight along with indicators integrated into a single-piece unit.

The Burgman Street will be powered by the same 124cc, air-cooled engine seen on the Suzuki Access 125, which produces 8.7PS of power at 7000rpm and 10.2Nm of peak torque at 5000rpm.

Suspension duties are handled by telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Braking on the Burgman Street is courtesy an optional front disc and a rear drum unit, seen on the Access as well. However, unlike the Access, the Burgman Street will come with bigger 12-inch wheels, which will aid in handling.

As mentioned earlier, the Burgman Street will face serious competition from quite a few rivals. But, considering its unique design and features, it does seem to have the potential to build its own unique fanbase in the now fiercely competitive 125cc segment. We, for one, certainly have high expectations from it.
