Earlier this week, we had told you that Suzuki was developing a premium scooter that it intends to launch at the 2018 Auto Expo and now, spy pictures of the same have surfaced. The new Suzuki scooter will be the called Burgman Street and will be the most premium scooter to be manufactured by Suzuki in India. The company has been very secretive about its new scooter but we expect it to be powered by the 125cc motor seen on the Suzuki Access 125. However, a few reports suggest that an all-new 150cc motor is in the works. We would still choose to place our bets on a slightly tuned 125cc engine though as the engine is already in production. The new Suzuki Burgman Street is expected to be priced between Rs 60,000 and Rs 65,000 (ex-showroom) when launched at the 2018 Auto Expo.
The Burgman is Suzuki’s premium range of scooters. In fact, the Japanese two-wheeler giant had launched the Burgman 650 in India few years back at a whopping price of Rs 12 lakh. Coming back to the spy shots of the Burgman Street, they reveal quite a bit. Safe to say that it will have a maxi-scooter-like styling with a large windscreen. However, it doesn’t look too big and should be only slightly larger than, say, a Honda Grazia. Also, we can see that the scooter gets a chunky handlebar, while the headlamp will be mounted on the front apron (we expect it to be an LED unit) and the all-digital instrument console will be placed in between the handlebar and the windscreen.
Suspension duties will be handled by telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the back. We expect a 12-inch wheel at rear as opposed the 10-inch units seen on the Access 125. Braking should be courtesy a disc brake at the front and a drum unit at the rear. As you can see, the Suzuki Burgman Street plans to revive the maxi-scooter segment in India which was started by the Kinetic Blaze more than a decade back. We will be reporting live from the 2018 Auto Expo to get you more details of the upcoming Suzuki Burgman Street from the event. Stay tuned.
