The result is a pint-size machine that will blow your mind away

  • Capable of achieving top speed of 130kmph.
  • Claimed range of 130km.
  • 176Nm of instant torque at the rear wheel.
  • Weighs in at only 91kg.
  • MetaCycle

Premium e-bike manufacturer Sondors has taken the wraps off its first-ever electric motorcycle. Priced at $5,000 (approximately Rs 3.65 lakh), the Metacycle is a stunning machine, unlike any other electric motorcycle we have seen so far.

The first thing that’ll get your attention is the skinny chassis and a hollow section where a conventional motorcycle’s fuel tank would be. The Metacycle embraces its uniqueness and doesn’t try to just fit in, like most of Zero Motorcycles’ products or even Harley-Davidson’s LiveWire.

Though the electric motorcycle may look like an urban commuter, the Metacycle is a highway-ready machine, capable of achieving a top speed of 130kmph.

On a side note, Bajaj has increased the prices of the Dominar 400 by Rs...

Propelling the electric motorcycle is a hub-mounted motor that produces 11PS of nominal power and peaks at 13PS. The torque figure at 176Nm is stupendous. This motor is paired to a detachable Li-ion battery pack that promises a range of 130km. Though the company hasn’t divulged further detail about the battery pack, they claim the charging time is four hours.

Despite being weirdly affordable, the Metacycle packs decent hardware. While WP USD forks and monoshock handle suspension duties, the disc brakes at both ends help shed speeds on this 91kg commuter (yes, it’s light, thanks to the minimalist design and all-aluminum construction).

There’s no compromise on the feature front either -- the Metacycle gets all-LED illumination, with integrated indicators at both ends. There’s also a crisp digital display. However, what takes the cake is the neat-looking clear-top case integrated into the frame that not only houses your phone but has the provision for charging your phone wirelessly.

Must we break the not-so-happy news? The Sondors Metacycle is not going to grace Indian shores. However, if you are looking for a smart, feature-loaded machine that packs serious punch, watch out for the Ather 450X. We tested the e-scooter recently, and the results will leave you wanting one.
