The upcoming six-seater SUV will be positioned above the standard model

Morris Garages is all set to launch the Hector Plus in the country on July 13. While it does look familiar, the Hector Plus gets a crucial update, improving its practicality quotient. It’ll also be positioned above the standard model considering its premium nature. Here are five things that you need to know about it:

PLUS one

Five PLUS one -- that’s the amount of passengers the Hector Plus can ferry. This is courtesy the addition of a third row and captain seats for the middle occupants. A bench seat version will follow later. While you can ferry around more people, this setup eats into boot space, for which figures are yet to be revealed. The interior also features Tan coloured upholstery that looks premium.

Cleaner Exterior Design

Sure, at first glance, the Hector Plus does look identical to the standard model. But if you look closely, MG has removed the unwanted plastic bits in the front bumper and rear tailgate. This gives a much cleaner look to the eye. We like it.

Only one new feature is added to the Hector Plus: swipe to open tailgate, which requires swiping your leg under the boot to open it automatically. Features like connected car technology, a 10.4-inch infotainment system, an Infinity sound system, a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting and power front seats have been carried over from the standard model. Safety features include 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera and electronic stability control.

Engine Options

Three powertrains are offered with the MG Hector Plus: a 143PS 1.5-litre petrol, a 143PS 1.5-litre hybrid and a 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine. While the hybrid and diesel variants are offered with a 6-speed manual transmission, the petrol-only engine is offered with a DCT only. The hybrid variant utilises an electric motor for additional torque boost. Read how it performs in the standard Hector right here

Expected Prices And Rivals:

Prices for the Hector Plus are expected to start from around Rs 16 lakh (ex-showroom). It’ll fight it out with the Toyota Innova Crysta, Mahindra XUV500 and the upcoming Tata Gravitas
