The Indian automotive market has recently seen a lot of hybrids coming in as the demand is rising day by day, and to enter this category, Renault India has opened bookings for its upcoming Duster Hybrid.
The Duster Hybrid was announced earlier this year, and finally it's going to be on Indian roads. But what can you actually expect? Let’s dive deeper into it:
Renault India has finally opened bookings for the Duster Hybrid through its official website as well as through its authorised dealership network. To reserve your new Duster Hybrid, you will have to pay Rs 21,000 as a booking amount.
Overall, the process is similar to the petrol-powered Duster, and it is confirmed to be revealed on 17th October.
The upcoming Renault Duster Hybrid is going to be powered by a 1.8-litre petrol engine paired with a strong hybrid setup which comprises a 1.4 kWh battery pack and two electric motors. Renault has even shared the claimed fuel efficiency figure, which is a whopping 29 kmpl, which is on paper more than its competition from Maruti and Toyota.
Here are the specifications of the Duster Hybrid:

In terms of features, the upcoming Duster Hybrid is expected to be similarly equipped to the standard Duster, which has features such as a large dual display setup that includes a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone climate control, 6-way powered and ventilated front seats, a large panoramic sunroof and a powered tailgate for easy access.

The Duster has been 5-star rated by BNCAP in its crash test, and we can expect the Hybrid version to be the same as well. The standard Duster comes with Level-2 ADAS, 6 airbags, electronic stability control, a tyre pressure monitoring system, a 360-degree camera with blind-spot monitor, and front and rear parking sensors.

The Duster Hybrid has direct competition with the Maruti Grand Vitara, Maruti Victoris and the Toyota Hyryder. Other competitors include the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Honda Elevate, Nissan Tekton, Tata Sierra, MG Astor and the upcoming Hyundai Bayon.
The Renault Duster made a comeback earlier this year, with its iconic SUV styling, well-equipped cabin, and meaner looks. In the pool of a lot of compact SUVs, the Duster did serve the enthusiast with a set of powerful turbo-petrol engines, but it did miss out for efficiency-oriented customers, which with the hybrid avatar, it is going to solve this problem.
The Duster Hybrid’s claimed 29 kmpl efficiency is going to definitely attract more customers and drive them into its dealerships. We are expecting Renault India to price it competitively, which can make a difference as well.
