  • 7-seater MG Hector Plus set to launch in January 2021.
  • It will be offered with 1.5-litre petrol and 2.0-litre diesel engines.
  • Currently, the 6-seater Hector is priced from Rs 13.74 lakh.

The MG Hector Plus is currently offered as a 6-seater SUV. The more practical 7-seater was expected to come this festive season, but it has been deferred certainly due to the pandemic. Now, MG Motor India has announced the 7-seater Hector Plus will be launched in January 2021.

The main update in the Hector Plus 7-seater is the bench row seats for middle row occupants, instead of individual captain seats. While it improves practicality, ingress and egress to the third row might be difficult here. In the 6-seater version, one can just walk between the seats to get to the third row. Just like the 6-seater model, the premium 7-seater Hector could feature tan upholstery.

Apart from the addition of a bench-seat variant, the Hector Plus will remain unchanged. It will continue to be powered by the 170PS 2.0-litre diesel engine and the 143PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol motor. The turbo-petrol engine can also be specced with a 48V mild-hybrid system for torque assist. A 6-speed manual gearbox is standard while the turbo-petrol engine can be picked with a dual-clutch automatic.

MG has announced it will be increasing the prices of all its models -- Hector, Hector Plus, ZS EV and Gloster -- in January 2021. Therefore, the 7-seater Hector Plus will command a premium over the existing Hector Plus, priced from Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom). However, it's likely to be priced less than MY2021 6-seater Hector as 7-seater variants are generally priced lesser than the model with captain seats. The Hector Plus will rival the Tata Gravitas and 2021 Mahindra XUV500
