The Slavia is the third car on the Skoda-Volkswagen MQB-A0-IN platform to get a facelift, and it comes with a lot of new goodies. Of course, there’s a change in design, but there are also many changes under the skin that make it a compelling package. Here are five things we loved about the Skoda Slavia facelift.
You know that saying: don’t judge a book by its cover? Scratch that. Judge this all you want, because it’s very hard to find faults with how the Slavia facelift looks.

The changes to the design have been subtle, but the way they have been executed is way classier. The grille has a blacked-out surround which looks very nice, and while the grille has a chrome strip running across, it’s not illuminated like the Kushaq’s. The new alloy wheels also look quite good too. At the rear, the black strip connecting the taillights is reminiscent of the Kylaq and looks nifty.
If there was one complaint from a majority of the Slavia buyers, it was the lack of certain features. With the facelift, Skoda has addressed many of them.

The new Slavia comes with the same 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen but runs a new user interface that allows it to have a 360-degree camera and a Google AI assistant, both of which work flawlessly. Like the Kushaq, the Slavia also shifts some of its focus to the rear seat passengers, giving them the comfort of massaging seats. It also gets a 10.25-inch virtual instrument cluster that is highly customisable and can also show navigation. These, in addition to the creature comforts from the previous Slavia, make the facelifted model a very well-rounded package.
The new Slavia comes with a generous boot space and has been cleverly packaged to use a majority of it very easily.
What aids the practicality of the boot is the fact that the rear seats can be folded down to make more room for luggage. Interestingly, the rear seat can be split in a 60:40 ratio, giving you multiple configurations to maximise space for passengers and cargo.
The Slavia was also known to be a delight to drive, and the same feeling continues with the new one as well. It reaches triple-digit speeds with ease, and once there, it stays firmly planted to the ground.

This gives the driver a lot of confidence, much like how the Slavia handles corners too. The suspension has been set up in a way to manage bumpy roads and spirited driving with equal adeptness.
The engines on the Slavia haven’t changed, nor have the power figures seen any difference. What still remains a great aspect of the Slavia is the fact that the engines still make way more performance than you would ever need.

Like the Kushaq, the Slavia’s 1-litre turbo-petrol also comes with the new 8-speed torque converter automatic is a bliss to use in city traffic. At crawling speeds, it is much smoother than the previous 6-speed unit.
When people consider buying a compact sedan, the options are quite limited. If you’re looking for a sensible, no-nonsense model, the Honda City is your default choice. If you aspire to features more than anything in your car, the Hyundai Verna is your best bet. If you want proper driving feel, then the Volkswagen Virtus and the Slavia are your best bet. Oh we forgot the Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, just like everyone else did. However, the new Slavia has become a great middle ground compared to all its rivals. It has the sensibility of the City, the features of the Verna and the performance of the Virtus, all in one package. It becomes really hard to fault the new Slavia, unless you start nitpicking.
