In today's market, one of the simplest ways buyers add character to their new SUV is by choosing a special dark-themed edition. These editions offer exclusivity with blacked-out exteriors and interiors, creating a distinct appeal. With the Mahindra Scorpio N being the latest to embrace this trend, here are the top 10 SUVs available with special dark-themed editions around Rs 20 lakh.
Mahindra introduced the Carbon Edition for the Scorpio N, which is offered only in its Z8 and Z8 L variants. It gets a blacked-out look with dark alloy wheels, a dark grey skid plate, and an all-black interior for a more sporty feel. There are no changes to the features or the powertrain department, and the Scorpio N Black Edition can be opted with either the 2-litre turbo-petrol or 2.2-litre diesel engine options. Prices start from Rs 19.19 lakh (ex-showroom).
Hyundai gave the Creta facelift an all-black makeover with the Knight Edition last year. It received changes to both its exterior and interior appearance. These include a pearl black exterior shade, Knight Edition badges, blacked-out alloy wheels, and an all-black cabin theme. The Creta Knight Edition is available only in the S (O) and SX (O) variants, with naturally aspirated and diesel engine options. Prices start from Rs 14.62 lakh (ex-showroom).
While not a special edition, the Seltos X-Line stands out with its unique matte-finish exterior, unlike the glossy finish on other SUVs on this list. Other design highlights include glossy black surrounds on the grille and ORVMs, along with blacked-out skid plates. Inside, it features an all-black theme, along with the addition of a heads-up display. The Seltos X-Line is available with 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines, both offered only with their respective automatic transmission options. Prices begin from Rs 20.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
Recently, Honda introduced two black editions of its compact SUV, the Elevate Black Edition and the Elevate Signature Black Edition. Both feature an all-black exterior and interior, but the Signature Black Edition goes a step further with blacked-out roof rails, skid plates, an all-black grille, and black door garnish. It also adds ambient lighting for an enhanced cabin experience. Both editions are offered with a 6-speed manual or a CVT-type automatic gearbox, coupled to the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine. Prices range between Rs 15.51 lakh and Rs 16.93 lakh (ex-showroom).
One of the first brands to tap into the black edition trend, Tata offers the Harrier in the Dark Edition. It features the Oberon Black exterior shade, along with an all-black grille, skid plates, and 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the cabin follows an all-black theme with piano-black elements adding to its appeal. Tata also introduced the Harrier Stealth Edition, which comes with a matte black finish and a darkened theme inside out. Prices start from Rs 15 lakh (ex-showroom).
Like the Harrier, its larger sibling, the Tata Safari, is also available in the Dark Edition. It features an all-black exterior with a blacked-out grille, skid plates, roof rails, and Dark badges. Inside, the Safari Dark Edition boasts black leatherette seat upholstery and gets features like a panoramic sunroof and ADAS. Tata also offers the Safari Stealth Edition, which sports a matte black finish while maintaining the all-black theme. However, Tata will retail only 2,700 units of the Harrier and Safari Stealth Edition. Prices begin from Rs 15.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
You can also opt for the Taigun GT Plus Sport in Deep Black Pearl for a special edition-like feel. On the outside, it features blacked-out elements on the grille, bumper, and headlights. The interior follows an all-black theme with piano black elements and red accents throughout the cabin. It is powered by a 150 PS 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Prices range from Rs 18.54 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG brought back the Astor Blackstorm in 2024. Like its previous iteration, this edition is available only with the 110 PS 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and is based on the mid-spec Select variant. It features an all-black exterior with red accents, including red brake callipers. Inside, the cabin follows an all-black theme with red inserts around the AC vents, while the seats come with ‘Blackstorm’ embossing on the headrests and red stitching. Prices for the Astor Blackstorm start at Rs 13.78 lakh (ex-showroom).
MG also offers the Hector Blackstorm Edition in its 5, 6, and 7-seater variants. On the outside, it features a Starry Black exterior, highlighted by dark chrome elements on the grille, body-side cladding, and skid plate. Red accents add a touch of contrast around the headlights and ORVMs. Inside, the Blackstorm theme continues with an all-black cabin accented by gunmetal grey highlights. Unlike the exterior, the cabin does not feature red accents, but MG has included red ambient lighting to enhance its sporty appeal. Prices begin from Rs 22 lakh (ex-showroom).
