With the reintroduction of the Z4 variant, the Scorpio N automatic is now cheaper by nearly Rs 1.70 lakh and is available with both engine options offered with the SUV

If you were eyeing the Mahindra Scorpio N but holding out for a more affordable automatic option, this might just be the news you were waiting for. Mahindra has brought back the Z4 variant of the Scorpio N that was earlier offered with an automatic transmission option.

Currently, the 6-speed AT was only available with the higher-spec Z6 diesel and Z8 Select petrol trims. With the Z4 AT making a comeback, the entry point for the automatic transmission has become much more accessible.

Take a look at its pricing and how it compares with more premium variants.

Scorpio N Z4 Automatic Pricing

The reintroduced Scorpio N Z4 automatic is priced at Rs 17.39 lakh (ex-showroom) if you pick the petrol engine, while the diesel Z4 automatic costs Rs 17.86 lakh (ex-showroom). This marks a noticeable drop in pricing for both engine options, making it the most affordable automatic gearbox-equipped variant in the lineup.

The Z4 petrol automatic undercuts the Z8 Select petrol AT by Rs 1.67 lakh, while the Z4 diesel automatic is priced Rs 1.05 lakh lower than the Z6 diesel automatic, making the convenience of an automatic transmission far more accessible in the Scorpio N range.

What the Scorpio N Z4 Variant Offers

In terms of styling, the Scorpio N Z4 carries its familiar rugged and functional design, featuring halogen headlamps, 17-inch steel wheels with stylised covers, and LED tail lamps at the rear. It is available only in a 7-seater configuration.

Feature-wise, the Z4 gets a 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, an semi-digital instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch MID, steering-mounted controls, manual AC, and rear AC vents.

On the safety front, the Z4 variant comes equipped with dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill hold and hill descent control, electronic stability control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat mounts and rear parking sensors, missing out on the parking camera.

Engine Choices

As mentioned earlier, the Scorpio N Z4 is available with both turbo-petrol and diesel engine options. Detailed specifications of each powertrain are provided below.

In terms of rivalry, the Scorpio N locks horns with the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus, and the Hyundai Alcazar. It also serves as an alternative to the popular compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara.

By bringing back the Z4 AT, Mahindra is looking to offer a compelling value proposition. Automatic transmission option at affordable price point, with essential features. This could turn out to be a smart pick for buyers who have been planning manual entry-level trims but seek a smoother urban driving.
