Mahindra has just given the Scorpio N important updates, featuring a new variant and a bunch of ADAS features to the top-spec Z8 L variant to enhance the SUV’s package. The new Z8 T trim is positioned between the Z8 and Z8 L variants, and is priced at Rs 20.29 lakh (ex-showroom). The updated top-spec Z8 L variant with ADAS retails from Rs 21.35 lakh (ex-showroom).
If you always liked the Scorpio N but the missing ADAS package was stopping you from considering the SUV, then this update might just be for you! Moreover, the Scorpio N could now also be a 5-star worthy candidate in crash tests. It can also get a better score considering that some ADAS features are mandatory in the Australian NCAP test, where it scored 0 stars. Read on as we take you through the updates in detail:
Here’s how the Z8 T and Z8 L differ from each other in pricing.

As seen in the table above, the top-spec Z8 L is around a lakh more expensive than the new Z8 T variant.

The updated Z8 L variant is the only variant in the Scorpio N’s lineup to get ADAS. The ADAS suite will include features like lane departure warning, lane keep assist, and auto emergency braking. Other safety features that are also offered with lower-spec variants include front and rear parking sensors, a tyre pressure monitoring system, ABS with EBD, ESC, 6 airbags, a reverse parking camera, ISOFIX child seat mounts, and hill hold assist.

The new Z8 T variant is for those who need everything but ADAS. Over the Z8, the Z8 T trim offers 18-inch alloy wheels, front parking sensors, front and rear camera, ventilated front seats, powered driver seats, a 12-speaker Sony audio system, auto dimming IRVM, and 65 W type-C fast charger. With the Z8 T, Mahindra has also introduced an electronic parking brake with auto hold, adding more convenience.
The Z8 L is offered with both 6- and 7-seater layouts and all powertrain options.
Under the hood, things remain the same. Here’s a look at the Scorpio N’s powertrain options:

You get rear-wheel drive as standard, and both diesel manual and automatic powertrains are also available with the option of a four-wheel drivetrain.

In the Australian NCAP crash test, the Scorpio N received a 0-star rating due to the absence of ADAS features. And this could be one of the key reasons for Mahindra to introduce the ADAS kit with the Scorpio N for it to get a better score. Knowing Mahindra’s DNA and impressive track record in safety tests, we highly vouch for the Big Daddy to ace the safety test with flying colours.
While ADAS is something that is still work in progress for our Indian conditions, and is not yet ideal for our roads, it is something that is good to have. Features like Auto Emergency Braking can save us from major accidents and lane keep assist can make driving easy when the lanes are well marked. So if your drives include well-marked highways, then the Scorpio N Z8 L could just be for you!
Let us know your thoughts about the updates? Would you be more interested in picking the Scorpio N now?
