Pickup retains the Scorpio N design but is noticeably longer
Expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine
Likely to arrive in India by 2026
Mahindra is gearing up to expand its Scorpio N lineup with a new pickup truck, likely inspired by the Global Pik Up concept showcased in 2023 in South Africa. While a single-cab variant may cater more to the commercial segment, what we have spotted this time around is a dual-cab version of the pickup. Launch in India may come after the international rollout, possibly in 2026. Earlier speculation suggested that the pickup might carry the Scorpio X name, based on a trademark by the brand, though this is yet to be confirmed. With the Scorpio N already achieving significant success in India, Mahindra is aiming to offer a tougher, lifestyle-oriented pickup that balances capability, features, and durability in a segment that is still relatively niche in the country.
The spy shot provides a clear look at the dual-cab silhouette of the pickup truck despite heavy camouflage. Some portion of the front bumper can also be seen with the headlights currently housing auxiliary lamps for testing purposes, and indicators on the side have been integrated into the ORVMs. This could probably be the base variant since the pickup is seen running on steel rims. The dual-cab version here retains most of the Scorpio N’s design elements but is visibly longer. What we also know from previous spy shots is that the front sports a blacked-out grille with vertical slats, centered by Mahindra’s twin-peak logo. Top spec variants of the pickup are expected to get similarly designed dual-tone alloy wheels as seen on the Scorpio N.

The Mahindra Scorpio N based pickup is expected to use an updated 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine, likely tuned down for commercial and utility use. Although it will be confirmed during launch if the pickup will also make use of the 2-litre turbo petrol engine. It will come with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission options, while top trims may feature a proper 4x4 system. While we know what the Scorpio N has on offer, the exact specifications and performance details of this pickup will be revealed at the official launch.

Although Mahindra hasn’t confirmed the India launch yet, with the test mule spotted multiple times, the Scorpio N based pickup is expected to arrive sometime in 2026. Pricing could start upwards of ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a strong alternative in the segment. Compared to the Toyota Hilux, it may come as a more affordable option while still delivering solid capability. Against the Isuzu V-Cross, it could provide better reliability and features. Overall, this pickup could strike a balance of features, durability, and performance at a comparatively attractive price.
With testing already underway, Mahindra’s Scorpio N based pickup is shaping up to be a capable and versatile addition to its global lineup. It could bridge the gap between practical utility vehicles and modern everyday pickups, giving Indian buyers a taste of pickup truck culture as seen in many Western countries.
We feel that while the pickup truck segment hasn’t found much success in India yet, Mahindra’s move could change that. If priced and marketed right, this could be the brand’s next smart experiment – though only time will tell how it plays out. What do you think, will Mahindra’s new pickup find success in India?
