Barely a week after giving us a preview, Kia has launched the Seltos X Line trim at prices starting from Rs 17.79 lakh (ex-showroom). Based on the GTX Plus, it may not be as rugged as the concept that was showcased at Auto Expo 2020, but it does get a nice doll-up.

The addition of the X Line trim comes at a price premium of up to Rs 45,000 over the GTX Plus it is based on. So what’s different in the Seltos X Line? Let's find out:

For starters, it comes in an exclusive and stealthy ‘Matte Graphite’ shade, a first for a car coming straight from the factory in India. This is complemented by bigger 18-inch dual-tone alloy wheels that also get the matte treatment. Even the front grille gets a matte finish with a black outline. Other key bits include a Piano Black finish on the bumpers, mirrors, fog lamps and mufflers. There’s also contrast orange accents on the bumpers, door garnish, and wheels.

Aside from an Indigo leatherette theme on the seats and door pads and the former also featuring a quilted pattern, the Seltos X Line cabin is largely unchanged. Features include a 10.25-inch infotainment system with connected car tech, wireless charging, a Bose sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a single-pane sunroof, and ventilated front seats.
Safety is taken care of by six airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control, blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera.

Mechanically, the Seltos X Line can be specced with a 140PS 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine and a 115PS 1.5-litre diesel engine like the GTX Plus. But, the X Line is an automatic-only trim, paired with a 7-speed DCT for the 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 6-speed AT for the 1.5-litre diesel.

The addition of the Kia Seltos X Line trim should make it a proper rival to the Tata Harrier Dark Edition. The SUV also goes up against the Hyundai Creta, MG Hector Skoda Kushaq, and the upcoming VW Taigun.
