While the diesel-manual powertrain could be chucked, the petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel-automatic powertrains will march on

  • Kia Seltos 1.5-litre diesel manual is likely to be discontinued soon.

  • SUV will continue to be sold with the diesel automatic powertrain.

  • Naturally aspirated- and turbo-petrol powertrains to be present.

  • SUV’s prices range between Rs 10.69 lakh and Rs 19.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

Thanks to our sources, we’ve got wind that Kia will soon discontinue the diesel-manual powertrain combo from the Seltos’ lineup. No reason has been stated behind the possible discontinuation, which will likely happen in the coming days.

If and when the diesel-manual variants of the compact SUV are discontinued, the remaining powertrain options for the Seltos will include a 115PS/144Nm 1.5-litre petrol, 140PS/242Nm 1.4-litre turbo-petrol, and a 115PS/250Nm 1.5-litre diesel unit. But unlike before, the diesel unit will be available with a six-speed automatic only, while the petrol powertrains will continue with the standard six-speed manual. A CVT and seven-speed DCT are the optional transmissions for the naturally aspirated and turbo-petrol units, respectively.

The Kia Seltos offers passengers a host of features, including a 10.25-inch infotainment system, an eight-speaker Bose sound system, a head-up display, a sunroof, automatic climate control, wireless phone charging, and remote engine start/stop. Six airbags were made standard throughout its variants list in 2022, and its safety kit also gets ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), brake assist, hill start assist, and a 360-degree camera (with front and rear parking sensors).

The facelifted Seltos is already sold in markets abroad, and it could make its way to India sometime in late 2023 or early 2024. Until then, the current Seltos continues to retail in India between Rs 10.69 lakh and Rs 19.15 lakh (ex-showroom). It takes on the likes of the MG Astor, Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Maruti Grand Vitara, Toyota Hyryder, Skoda Kushaq, VW Taigun, and Mahindra XUV 700.
