Hero MotoCorp has been crowned as the world’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer in terms of annual volumes, for the 16th consecutive year. It is reaffirmed by the fact that the brand has clocked its highest sales in the financial year 2016-17 at 66,63,903 units. However, the percentage improvement on a year-on-year basis is marginal at 0.47%.
The company’s market position has been further reinforced by its global presence. In accordance with the same, Hero recently entered the Argentinian two-wheeler space and has launched the new Glamour for the global audience. The South American country marks its 35th international market.
Complying with the ‘Make In India’ initiative, the brand has indigenously developed and launched the Splendor iSmart 110 and the Achiever 150 with i3S technology in the commuter segment in July 2016 and September 2016 respectively.
The company has set another benchmark by clocking six lakh plus monthly sales on five occasions this fiscal year, while crossing the 70 million production mark in September 2016. With sufficient stock of BS-IV compliant vehicles, the brand will now look forward to a profitable financial year 2017-18, but they will need to bring in a new range of products to maintain its dominance.
