It is based on the same platform as the SR160.

As the launch date of the maxi-style scooter draws nearer, we have received some exclusive details of the Aprilia SXR160. The scooter will arrive in four colours: red, white, blue and black. The former two options are glossy ones while the latter ones get a matte finish. Pre-bookings for the scooter are likely to have commenced with deliveries slated for the first week of January 2021.

The SXR160 remains largely unchanged from its maiden appearance at Auto Expo 2020. While it looked appealing in red, the maxi-styled scooter looks rather handsome in white. The SXR160 will also be quite feature packed, arriving with LED lighting systems, full LCD console with optional smartphone connectivity, and a front glove box that houses a USB charging socket.

The 160cc single-cylinder 3-valve engine reprises its role here on the SXR160, producing the same 11PS and 11.6Nm as on the SR160. There might be a slight change to the tune of the CVT, which along with the smaller 12-inch rims, should offer a different riding experience. Even the suspension tune is likely to be softer keeping in mind the scooter’s urban intentions. It comes with single-channel ABS.
