The G310R based adventure offering might be made in India under the BMW-TVS alliance. Rumours suggest that BMW will debut the G310R based G310GS in 2017

BMW announced its entry in the entry-level performance segment when the first unveiled the G310R at 2016 EICMA. At the time of the unveiling, it was pretty much clear that the G310R wasn’t the only model to be launched on the 313cc platform. Several reports suggest that BMW Motrad UK director Phil Horton spilled the beans about expanding their GS line-up into the entry-level adventure offering for the brand.

BMW Motorrad UK, Director, Phil Horton said to Motorcycle Sport & Leisure: “New models aside, the line-up isn’t as comprehensive as it needs to be. But there are plenty more bikes to come, including, hopefully in 2017, a G310R GS-style derivative. That’s quite an interesting proposition in itself.”

While there isn’t any official confirmation from BMW as yet, it is safe to assume that the G310R based adventure will have the same 313cc liwuid-cooled single cylinder powerplant. While in the naked version it makes 35PS of peak power and 28Nm of maximum torque, BMW might just give it a different state of tune to suit its adventure DNA.

Thanks to the R1200GS and the R1200GS Adventure, BMW has had a tremendous hold in the adventure and with this move, the German motorcycle manufacturer wants to expand its line-up to gain a stronger foothold in the ADV category.

Keeping in mind that the G310R has been engineered in Germany but will be produced in India, we can expect its adventure version to be made in India as well. And if that happens, expect it to be the most affordable adventure offering in India. Moreover, it will also kickstart a new segment, one that enthusiasts in India would love to explore.
