The bikemaker had put teasers on social media before recently announcing the launch date

    While most bike makers have introduced multiple new offerings in India, it’s been a fairly quiet 2021 for Indian Motorcycles. But that’s about to change, though, as the bikemaker is set to launch its 2022 Indian Chief lineup in the country on August 27, 2021. 

    The range includes three bikes: Chief Dark Horse, Chief Bobber Dark Horse, and Super Chief Limited, with prices starting from Rs 20,75,922 (ex-showroom India), which was announced way back in March this year. Pre-bookings also began at the same time for a token of Rs 3 lakh.

    All three motorcycles share the same engine and chassis. They’re powered by Indian’s Thunderstroke 116 motor (1,890cc) -- putting out 171Nm in its latest trim -- housed in a tubular double-cradle frame. 

    What’s different between the three is their aesthetic appeal. While the Chief Dark Horse is a blacked-out cruiser with alloys and a flat handlebar, the Bobber Dark Horse is more old-school in its ways, evident from the spoke rims and mini ape hangers. Sitting atop the lineup is the chrome-laden Super Chief Limited packing a big windscreen, tall handles, saddlebags, and a pillion seat, making it ideal for munching miles.

    Features on the three Chiefs consist of all-LED illumination, a TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, three rider modes (sport, standard and tour), cruise control, smartphone connectivity, and a USB port. For more details about the 2022 Indian Chief lineup, head here.

    In India, the Indian Chief range will lock horns with the BMW R18 and Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. At a similar price point, one can also consider the Triumph Rocket 3.
