MV Agusta To Fulfill Milan Police’s Need For Speed

Think exotic motorcycles, and most of us will picture an MV Agusta bike. The Italian firm has added another EU5 model to its line-up, giving the Rush 1000, the necessary emission updates. The litre-class outlandish naked continues to exist as a limited edition, model with only 300 units commissioned this time for the 2021 model.
MV Agusta has this tradition of creating slightly hardcore and visually striking versions of its basic naked motorcycle series, aka the Brutales. For its 800s, it is the Dragster 800 RR, whereas the Rush 1000 is for the litre-class naked.
The Rush 1000 looks distinct. There are several design elements that scream MV Agusta, like the muscular tank, the under seat exhausts, and the neatly integrated tail-lamp. Still, there’s this retro hint to the bike.

Take the headlight, for example. It isn’t the diamond-style one that all Agustas have but this one round with intricately designed internals. Then, there’s the floating pillion seat, which is enough space for your backpack to rest comfortable because no human bottom would ever feel comfortable on it.

The Rush has a pretty aggressive riding stance too, thanks to the clip-on bars, an extremely tall seat height of 845mm and pretty rear-set footpegs. While this stance would have been appropriate for a track-oriented sportbike, it does feel a little too extreme on a naked. But hey, you don’t seek Agustas for practicality.

You seek them for their flair and performance, and boy does this pack some grunt. The Rush 1000 is one of the members of the elite 200PS+ club, churning out 208PS from its 998cc inline-four. There’s also a special ‘Race Kit’ that raises this power figure to 212PS.
It gets the whole gamut of IMU-aided modern electronic rider aids. Traction control and wheelie control can be switched off completely, although we doubt somebody would want to do that.
Ohlins’s electronically adjustable suspension, Brembo Stylema brakes, and Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tyres are the best hardware combination that one could ask for.

Ultimately, this super exclusive MV Agusta naked is unlikely to find takers here in India, and even if it does, the asking price would be ridiculous. But if there’s one place where the Rush will succeed, it will be in every enthusiasts’ desktop/mobile screen wallpaper collection.
