Honda has begun deliveries of its CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports motorcycles. The full-size adventure motorcycle was launched in March this year in two versions: manual (Rs 15.35 lakh) and DCT auto (Rs 16.1 lakh). The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports replaces the CRF1000L Africa Twin. Like its predecessor, the Africa Twin AS is brought to India via the CKD route.

The Africa Twin gets cosmetic and features updates but the major change comes in the form of a new, larger 1084cc parallel-twin motor (up from 998cc). It now makes 102PS and 105Nm, a hike of 7PS and 7Nm over its predecessor. The BS6-compliant motor is now available with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission option.

Features additions include new 6-axis IMU-based rider aids like traction control, cornering ABS, wheelie control and rear lift control. It also gets a new 6.5-inch colour TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and Apple CarPlay.

The Africa Twin AS gets a new bolt-on subframe that has better serviceability and is affordable to replace in case of a crash. It gets a taller but narrower seat and 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels with tubeless tyres. Suspension components include Showa 45mm USD fully-adjustable fork and preload- and rebound-adjustable monoshock.

The Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin Adventure Sports competes with the newly launched Triumph Tiger 900 Rally, Ducati Multistrada 950 and BMW F 850 GS. Online reports also indicate Honda might be working on a smaller and affordable Africa Twin. Check out the details here.
