[UPDATE: Honda has launched the premium Hornet 2.0, its biggest made-in-India motorcycle. Head here for all details on the price, features, engine specs and more.]

Last week we had reported that Honda will be launching a new product this month for the Indian market and now, the Japanese brand has sent us a ‘block your date’ email confirming the same. While Honda has been super secretive about the new launch, we have learnt from our sources that it could be a new 200cc motorcycle. The upcoming bike, which could be called the Honda CB Hornet 200R, will be launched on August 27.
The upcoming motorcycle could be the spiritual successor to the Honda CB Hornet 160R which hasn’t been launched yet in its BS6 iteration. With the Honda X-Blade BS6 receiving a massive Rs 17,000 price hike to meet the new emission norms, the Hornet 160R seems irrelevant. Instead, Honda could launch the new CB Hornet 200R. The new bike has two benefits: it can be an upgrade for existing Honda 160cc bike owners and also allow the Japanese brand to make an impact in the fast-growing 200cc-plus segment.

Honda had also patented the CBF190R last year in India and we expect the new 200cc bike to be based on it. You can read more here: New Honda 200cc Motorcycle Incoming. Pricing hasn’t been the Japanese brand’s forte but we are hopeful that it will be able to price the Honda CB Hornet 200R around Rs 1.40 lakh (ex-showroom). The Honda 200cc bike will compete against the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and the Bajaj Pulsar NS 200.
