Global NCAP initiated the #SaferCarsForIndia programme with an aim to promote safer cars in India. Safety has become an increasing priority for car buyers and manufacturers are aiming to deliver models with 5-star NCAP rating. And in 2023, most of the cars tested by Global NCAP nailed the tests with full marks. Here are 5 such cars:
Earlier this year, Tata launched the Harrier and Safari facelifts with new modern exteriors and revamped insides. Alongside, the company also had the SUV tested by Global NCAP, and both SUVs secured a 5-star safety rating. You can check out our crash test report of both models by tapping this link.
The new Verna marked a significant milestone for Hyundai as it became the carmaker’s first made-in-India model to get a 5-star rating from Global NCAP. This was possible thanks to the improvements made to the car’s chassis and safety features such as ADAS and six airbags. For more details on the new Verna’s crash test rating, read our report.
Volkswagen and Skoda are known for their solid build quality and fun-to-drive nature. And it was no different with the Virtus and Slavia, which are based on the MQB-A0-IN platform. Both sedans secured full marks in the Global NCAP crash safety test with a solid performance. You can check out our crash test report of both these cars here.
As news of the first set of cars – the new Harrier and Safari – tested under the Bharat NCAP breaks cover, it is time to give a vote of thanks to Global NCAP’s #SaferCarsForIndia initiative to instil a sense of safety in the Indian car buyer.
