Quick Read:
Harley-Davidson X440 T launched at Rs 2,79,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Gets a flatter, wider handlebar, and a tidier cockpit
Gets more features such as ride-by-wire and ride modes
Engine and hardware remain unchanged from the standard X440
Harley-Davidson has launched the X440 T in India at Rs 2,79,500 (ex-showroom). Instead of reinventing its most affordable motorcycle, Harley has taken a focused approach by tightening the design, cleaning up the details where it mattered most.

The biggest visual upgrade hits you right at the rear. The awkward, upright fender of the original Harley-Davidson X440 has finally been retired, atleast on this model. In its place is a sleeker, better-contoured tail section that helps the bike look more cohesive and a lot more premium. It subtly introduces a flat-track-inspired flow without being too in-your-face about it. The bike also gets a flatter and wider handlebar over the standard X440. The T comes in 4 colour options (Vivid Black, Pearl Red, Pearl White & Pearl Blue), but in our opinion, it is the Black which catches our attention. A pair of bar-end mirrors rounds off the visual enhancements, widening the stance and adding a sharper edge to the front profile.

Harley has also taken care of one of the loudest complaints: the messy handlebar cable situation. The decluttered cockpit gives the bike a premium look it previously lacked. All thanks to a ride-by-wire throttle, which also enables 2 riding modes (Rain and Road), switchable traction control and switchable rear ABS (Both ABS and TC can be turned off only in the Road mode). The Rain mode reduce the torque output by 10 percent.
Mechanically, the bike stays true to the original formula. The 440cc air-oil-cooled single continues unchanged (27.37PS and 38Nm) — and that’s not a bad thing. It was already the strongest part of the package with its torquey character and road-friendly manners. The chassis, suspension setup and overall ride feel should remain familiar to anyone who’s ridden the standard model.

Apart from launching the new model, Harley-Davidson has also reduced the price of the standard X440 in India.

Along with price drop, the base Denim variant has been discontinued.

Harley-Davidson clearly wants to dominate the Rs 2-3 lakh retro roadster space in India, especially with the price drop of the regular X440. With the X440 T, the brand has responded directly to feedback, polishing what was already well-liked. Cruise control still remains an obvious missing piece, now that ride-by-wire is on board, but perhaps Harley is pacing its upgrades. The X440 T, with revised design and added features, is now the version that finally makes the X440 platform feel complete.
Also, the brand launched the CVO variants of the Street Glide and Road Glide in India. The former costs Rs 63,03,142, whereas the latter retails at Rs 67,36,720 (both prices ex-showroom, Delhi). The CVO variants are the ultimate guises of the respective models, armed with aesthetic, functional and performance upgrades.
