Simple Energy has launched the OneS electric scooter in India. The Simple OneS replaces the Dot One electric scooter in Simple’s lineup and is the manufacturer’s entry-level scooter. The brand’s lineup now consists of two electric scooters: Simple OneS and the Simple One Gen 1.5. The Simple OneS is priced at Rs 1,39,999 and the One Gen 1.5 is priced at 1,66,000. The OneS is Rs 6,217 more affordable than the Dot One which was priced at Rs 1,46,216. (All prices ex-showroom).

Design

All-new Simple OneS Electric Scooter Launched details

The Simple OneS has the same design language as the Simple One and the Dot One. It gets the same angular headlight, sharp body panels, and a sloping seat with a raised tail section. The overall design of the scooter is quite sporty and looks quite good. The scooter is offered in four colours: Brazen Black, Grace White, Azure Blue and Namma Red. The only difference is the badging it get compared to the Dot One

Battery, Motor and Performance

The Simple OneS is powered by a 3.7kWh fixed battery pack and has a claimed range of 181km on a full state of charge. The electric motor makes peak power of 8.5kW and 72Nm, and propels the scooter to a claimed top-speed of 105kmph. It also does the 0-40kmph sprint in a claimed 2.55 seconds (0.22 seconds quicker than the One).

Underpinnings

The OneS retains the same underpinnings as the Dot One. A telescopic fork and a monoshock. Braking is handled by disc brakes at both ends mounted on 12-inch alloy wheels with 90-section Eurogrip tyres street-oriented tyres. The scooter has a generous underseat storage capacity of 35 litres and it has a fairly accessible seat height of 770mm. Even though the One S is the more affordable scooter compared to ‘One’, it has 5 litres more underseat storage capacity.

Features

The Simple OneS shares the same 7-inch touch-sensitive TFT display as the One. It gets four riding modes: Eco, Ride, Dash, and Sonic which alter the power output and the range of the scooter along with a dedicated reverse mode. The TFT dash supports smartphone connectivity via 5G eSim and WiFi along with Bluetooth which allows for turn-by-turn navigation, call & SMS alerts, over-the-air updates and ride telemetry. Other features include a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), regenerative braking, and park assist.

ZigSays

With the launch of the Simple OneS, Simple Energy has provided consumers with a good entry-level option in the Simple lineup. Though it provides less claimed range than the Simple One, it offers slightly better acceleration and more underseat storage which is impressive considering its price. All said and done, we will wait and see whether Simple is able to cater to the demand with timely deliveries as well as dealership expansion. The Simple OneS goes against the likes of Ola S1 Pro, Bajaj Chetak 3501, TVS iQube and the Ather 450S in India.
