Amid a lot of action in the auto sector, Tata Motors made yet another major announcement today, this time for its EV lineup. The carmaker revealed its future plans, which include 5 brand-new all-electric models by FY 2030, along with the expected launch timelines of two of its highly-anticipated products. Here is a breakdown of all we know so far:
Starting off with the Sierra EV, which has already been teased, Tata said that the electric version of the retro-styled SUV will launch in 2026. While further details have not yet been confirmed, it could get a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup, just like the Harrier EV.

The Sierra EV is expected to be based on the Acti.ev + platform, with range figures estimated to be around the 450-500 km mark. Earlier spyshots have also shown that it is likely to also get a new multi-link suspension setup at the rear.
One of Tata’s most popular models, the Punch EV is also slated to get a minor refresh which could include styling tweaks and feature upgrades. Slight tweaks could also be made to the powertrain to eke out more range. The refreshed Punch is also set to make its debut in 2026 as well. You can also read our review of the Punch EV here.

Next up, the carmaker also revealed the timeline of the Avinya’s debut, which will be the Tata’s luxury subdivision’s first product. Set to launch by the end of 2026, the Avinya is expected to bring a slew of new technologies and will sit at the top of the carmaker's present range of cars. Notably, the Avinya X Concept has also won a Red Dot Design Award, along with the Sierra earlier this year.

Besides the Sierra EV and the Avinya, Tata also announced that it will bring 3 more new nameplates by the end of FY 2030, totalling to 5 new models. This means that we could see a new addition to the Tata EV lineup every year expanding its already wide portfolio, which currently spans from the Tiago EV hatchback to the Harrier EV currently.

While we wait for further developments to take place, expect these cars to cater to a diverse range of segments and price brackets.
Along with its future plans, Tata also announced that it crossed the 2.5 Lakh production milestone for its EVs, out of which more than 1 Lakh units were of the Nexon EV only. With this achievement, the carmaker also claims to have saved more than 17 lakh tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions, which is equivalent to planting 80 million trees.
Betting big on EVs has paid Tata Motors large dividends in terms of the market share, and with these new products, the carmaker doesn’t seem to be in the mood to give away even an inch of its dominance. That said, competition is heating up as well, and with a lot more EVs on the way, the future for EVs looks bright.
