2026 Tata Sierra EV Sanctuary Edition Explained In Images; Is It Jungle Safari Ready?

Tata Motors has recently launched the Sierra EV in the Indian market, and alongside, has also pulled wraps off a unique Sierra EV Sanctuary Edition. This heavily modified version of the electric SUV features several bespoke elements and is purpose-built for jungle safari and adventure-tourism applications. While the production plans of this special edition remain a mystery, here’s a closer look at the Sierra EV Sanctuary Edition: 

What Is The Tata Sierra EV Sanctuary Edition?

The Tata Sierra EV Sanctuary Edition reimagines the standard electric SUV as a dedicated safari vehicle. While it retains the production model's overall design, it gets a completely reworked open-top cabin with a raised canopy, offering an unobstructed view of the surroundings. The rear section has also been redesigned with stadium-style seating, transforming the SUV into an 8-seater better suited for wildlife tourism.

To enhance its off-road capability, the Sanctuary Edition comes equipped with front and rear bull bars, an electric recovery winch, and auxiliary spotlights mounted on the bumper. It also gets 18-inch all-terrain tyres, ladder for last row, rear grab rails, and a side step, making it easier for passengers to enter and exit the elevated cabin while adding to its rugged appeal. 

Notably, Tata has also deleted the AVAS (Acoustic Vehicle Alert System) in the Sanctuary Edition to make the entire experience completely free of noise.

Can You Buy One? 

The Sierra EV Sanctuary Edition is currently just a concept and is unlikely to be sold as a private vehicle. But, if Tata Motors decides to go ahead with it, it could find its place primarily in commercial applications serving as an ideal option for luxury wildlife safari tours and other curated tourist experiences. 

While it may remain out of reach for individual buyers, the Sierra EV Sanctuary Edition promotes a shift towards green energy that does not pollute the environment during jungle safaris and showcases the versatility of the Sierra EV’s platform and Tata Motors’ ability to create unique mobility solutions beyond just conventional passenger vehicles. 

2026 Tata Sierra EV: Overview

While the Sanctuary Edition remains a concept model, let’s go through a brief overview of the newly launched Sierra EV. Design-wise the SUV retains the retro-cool theme of its ICE-powered sibling with a boxy silhouette, connected LED light bars on both ends and the blackened-out roof insert as a tribute to the ‘Alpine’ windows of the original Sierra.

The Sierra EV is one of the most feature-loaded eSUVs in its segment with equipment like a triple-screen layout with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 12.3-inch passenger entertainment screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 12-speaker JBL Black sound system with Dolby Atmos, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, powered and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, ambient lighting, air purifier with AQI display and a wireless phone charger. 

In terms of safety, the Sierra EV’s safety net consists of 6 airbags, a Level-2+ ADAS suite, auto-park assist with over 16 features, a 540-degree camera with transparent mode, a blind spot view monitor, electronic parking brake with auto hold, an acoustic vehicle alerting system (AVAS), all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability program, traction control, hill hold control, tyre pressure monitoring system, rear wiper and defogger, and ISOFIX child seat mounts.

The Tata Sierra EV can be had with two battery pack options, a 75 kWh unit and a smaller 63 kWh unit. The former also features an optional dual-motor setup and AWD drivetrain exclusively reserved for the top-spec Empowered A AWD variant. Furthermore, the Sierra EV also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, along with support for up to 120kW DC fast charging capabilities.

2026 Tata Sierra EV: Price, Variants And Rivals 

Prices for the Tata Sierra EV range from Rs 18.79 lakh to Rs 25.99 lakh (ex-showroom) The electric SUV is offered in a total of 5 variants called Pure, Pure S, Adventure, Empowered, and Empowered A.

The Sierra EV’s direct competition is against top-selling electric SUVs of the segment, including the Hyundai Creta Electric, VinFast VF6,  VinFast VF7, MG ZS EV, Mahindra BE 6, Maruti e Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella.
