Renault’s upcoming ‘Mini-Duster’ has made its first appearance today as the Bridger Concept. Based on the Indian Duster’s new R-GMP platform, the concept gives us a glimpse into what the off-road-focused crossover could be like. Here is all we know about it:
Taking inspiration from the Duster’s flat and boxy styling, the Bridger dials things up a notch with a proper ‘tough’ look like a true-blue SUV. At the front, there is a gloss black grille with an illuminated ‘RENAULT’ lettering. You also get to see large headlamps and a boxy bumper with a silver skid plate. Notably, the bonnet also gets a black sticker for some distinctiveness.

The side profile consists of these huge silver alloy wheels, a properly upright posture and thick cladding for the squared-off wheel arches. It also has muscular haunches to lend some style, while the rear door handle is placed behind the window, just like in the Duster.

The rear-end continues with the minimal but muscular theme with a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and a flat tailgate, which adds some old-school charisma to an otherwise modern design. Also notable is the silver applique on the bumper and the interesting taillamp signature.

Renault is yet to reveal how the Bridger looks from inside, but given its off-road-focused personality, it could get squared-off elements here as well, with a variety of materials and textures for a premium feel. It could also borrow the Duster’s dual-screen setup for the infotainment and instrument cluster.
The carmaker has revealed two distinct details when it comes to the interior. The first is that rear passengers will have 400mm of knee room, which could make it one of the most spacious backseats in its price bracket. The second is that the Bridger will have a boot space of 400 litres. Both these details could be the Bridger’s trump card in the sub-4 metre segment.
While we wait for more details, the production Bridger could feature equipment like a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, wireless chargers, ambient lighting, air purifier and a power-adjustable driver seat.

Its safety suite is expected to include Level 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, electronic stability control, rear parking sensors, 360-degree camera and an electronic parking brake with auto-hold functionality.
Renault says the Bridger will be powered by petrol, EV and strong-hybrid powertrain options globally. However, in India, it is likely to have the 1-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Kiger as part of its portfolio. Here are the detailed specifications of this powertrain:
|
Engine |
1-litre turbo-petrol |
|
Transmission |
5-speed manual/ CVT automatic |
|
Power (PS) |
100 PS |
|
Torque (Nm) |
160 Nm(MT)/152 Nm(CVT) |
Notably, the carmaker could also equip it with an optional four-wheel drive system, given its off-road-oriented personality.

Production for the Bridger will start sometime next year, with an India launch expected to be in the Q3 of 2027. The Bridger is expected to be produced at the brand’s Tamil Nadu facility, which will also export to other markets globally. It is likely to be priced between Rs 7 lakh and Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Bridger will compete with rivals like the Mahindra Thar, Maruti Jimny and the upcoming Mahindra Vision S.
The SUV fever is all over us, and Renault is no exception. With the Duster launching later this month and the Bridger coming next year, the brand’s pivot to the rugged and tough body style is a welcome move, which will play a major role in boosting its fortunes in India.
