Units manufactured between August 3 and September 1, 2022 are affected.
Rear drum brake assembly pin is the reason for the recall.
May break and cause a noise and affect braking performance in the long run.
Dealerships and workshops to contact the affected customers for inspection.
Maruti has issued a recall for 9,925 units of the Celerio, Wagon R and Ignis to fix an issue with the rear brakes. Models built between August 3 and September 1, 2022 have been affected, and owners of these vehicles will be able to get their cars inspected, post which, if replacement is required, will be fixed free of cost.

According to the carmaker, “there is a possible defect in the rear brake assembly pin which, in certain cases, may break and cause a peculiar noise.” Maruti also suspects that the affected rear drum brake assembly part may affect braking performance in the long run.
It is working to arrange for replacement parts at authorised workshops throughout the country.

If your car has been manufactured within the given timeline, expect a call from a nearby Maruti dealership or workshop soon. The carmaker will first conduct a free inspection, and if there’s a need to replace the parts, will do so free of charge.
Rear brakes require little maintenance in the long run, so if your Maruti car has been affected by the recall, it’s advisable to get it inspected and repaired as soon as possible.

Needless to say, it’s important to keep your car’s brakes in tip-top condition. Keep an ear out for any odd sounds while braking and get your car inspected as soon as possible if such issues arise. A high-pitched squealing can tell you if the car needs a fresh set of brake shoes or pads, while grinding or clicking noises tell you that the brake assembly needs to be serviced. Always get your car inspected and repaired by an authorised technician or trusted mechanic, and always use OEM replacement parts instead of cheap aftermarket knockoffs.
