Maruti has launched its first-ever electric vehicle in the Indian market, the e Vitara, at a starting price of Rs. 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom) including a battery rental fee of Rs 3.99 per km, marking a major milestone for the brand. The car is available across 3 variants and 2 battery pack options. First showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo in January 2025, this ground-up electric SUV offers a fresh design, modern cabin, and Maruti’s new EV powertrain. In this article, we break down all the key highlights of the e Vitara and what’s powering Maruti’s entry into the electric space. But first, let's take a look at the variant-wise prices:
Maruti has launched the e Vitara in three variants called Delta, Zeta and Alpha. The Delta variant is available with the smaller 49kWh battery pack, while the two higher variants get the larger 61kWh battery pack. The full prices of the Maruti e Vitara are yet to be announced.
The Maruti e Vitara has a very distinctive, modern, yet rugged look. The front gets a chunky bumper, sharp headlights with LED projectors, and sleek three-point matrix Y-shaped LED DRLs, along with cuts and creases that add aggression to the front look.

From the side, the SUV gets chunky wheel arches, thick body claddings, and 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels.

The rear continues the sharp theme with a rugged bumper and wraparound three-point matrix LED taillights with a similar Y-shaped design as the DRLs, giving the e Vitara an EV-ready identity.

Step inside the cabin of the Maruti e Vitara and you will be amazed to look at the new dashboard design that is not seen on any Maruti car to date. The interior is finished in a black and tan theme with gloss black inserts and semi-leatherette upholstery.

Taking the centre stage is a dual-screen setup with a 10.25-inch touchscreen for infotainment and a 10.1-inch digital driver’s display, and it also gets a new dual-spoke steering wheel. At the rear, the seats come with a sliding and reclining function that enhances comfort.

Maruti has loaded the e Vitara with a host of features, which include an electric sunroof, ride-by-wire technology, a 10-way electrically adjustable driver seat, ventilated front seats, a PM2.5 cabin air filter, ambient lighting, a 10.1-inch digital driver's display, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with wireless Android Auto/Apple CarPlay, and an Infinity sound system.

In terms of safety, Maruti has equipped the e Vitara with 7 airbags and a Level-2 ADAS suite with features like adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot alert, autonomous emergency braking, lane departure warning and forward collision warning. Notably, the e Vitara has also received a 5 star safety rating from Bharat NCAP.

It also gets a 360-degree camera with front and rear sensors, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability control, and TPMS.
The Maruti e Vitara is offered with two battery pack options with a single electric motor in India. While the international spec does come with an all-wheel-drive setup, the Indian model is limited to front-wheel drive. The car supports both AC and DC fast charging. The Maruti e Vitara has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with cars like the Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Curvv EV, Mahindra BE 6, VinFast VF6 and VF7, MG Windsor EV, and the MG ZS EV, making the electric SUV segment more fierce than ever.

Maruti has turned up the heat in the electric SUV segment with its e Vitara, a much-needed car by the company to kick off its electric portfolio. Following Maruti’s reputation of being a reliable and relatively cheaper-to-maintain brand, the e Vitara has strong potential to be a top seller and give tough competition to its rivals. Priced at Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the e Vitara comes in as a good value for money package.
