Mahindra has just taken the covers off the new Global Pik Up truck concept at its annual Indian Independence Day event in South Africa. And given that the pickup truck is based on the Scorpio N, we can’t help but draw comparisons and design cues that could be implemented on the facelifted version of the SUV.
Yeah, sure, the Scorpio N has been around for just over a year now, but lofty global plans require planning a long way ahead. While the SUV’s design is still fresh and relevant, a facelift is inevitable down the line. Moreover, the Scorpio N-based Pik Up truck is still some time away, likely to arrive around 2026, so a facelift for the SUV around the same time would make sense as well.

We’ve done a detailed image gallery article, jotting down everything you need to know about the Pik Up concept, but we’ll now focus on the cues that could be implemented on the facelifted Scorpio N.

For starters, the Pik Up concept sports a similar headlight outline, but the elements within it are fresh with an L-shaped DRL. The grille is new as well. The vertical slats have been replaced by a honeycomb mesh grille, which could be more of a brand design deviation than a Scorpio N-specific change. The C-shaped fog lamps of the SUV could also be replaced by the slim vertical LED fog lamps.
Maybe that functional roof rack with the horizontally placed LED light bar could be offered as an accessory on the facelifted version.

We don’t expect any major changes to the sides of the facelifted Scorpio N SUV, surely not any derived from this concept. It could get new alloys, but they won’t be nearly as aggressive as the 5-spoke alloys on the Pik Up truck concept.

The rear too could take some inspiration from the concept. Of course, it won’t take the open flat bed and should retain the upright-ish stance, but the taillights could see a revision and take on a slimmer contour.

The cabin of the Pik Up truck concept is identical to the Scorpio N SUV, save for the theme, which is all black. It also gets a red stitching throughout the cabin and the same could be offered on the facelifted SUV as well. It currently is available with a black and brownish cabin hue with white stitching all around.
While Mahindra hasn’t divulged the exact numbers, it did say that the pickup truck gets a new-gen version of the 2.2-litre m Hawk diesel engine and we expect the same to arrive in the facelifted Scorpio N as well. The engine will continue to be available with both 6-speed MT and AT options along with a 4x4 drivetrain.

As for the features, the Pik Up concept only boasts a single extra feature over the already expansive list of the Scorpio N SUV – ADAS. So it is quite possible that Mahindra deploys the same Level-2 ADAS technology with the facelifted version of the Scorpio N SUV as well, or perhaps even sooner as a feature upgrade.

All these are speculative changes, especially because the Pik Up truck is still in a concept form, even though it does look really close to a production-ready avatar already. It is still some time away and is likely to get some tweaks along the way.

The updates will also make the Scorpio N pricier on top of the price hikes it will experience until the facelift arrives. As of now, it ranges between Rs 13.05 lakh and Rs 24.51 lakh (ex-showroom). It takes on the likes of the Tata Harrier/Safari, MG Hector Plus, Hyundai Creta/Alcazar, and Jeep Compass.
