Earlier, the crowd-favourite feature was only available with the petrol variants!

Diesel SUVs are clearly still in demand, and the Hyundai Alcazar is one such SUV whose diesel powertrain is very popular. The Alcazar is very well-equipped and has multiple powertrain options including both petrol and diesel options. For some reason the Korean marque was offering the crowd-favourite panoramic sunroof only with the petrol variants.

The good news is that a new Corporate diesel variant has been introduced, and it comes with a panoramic sunroof, available with both manual and automatic options. Hyundai has also introduced the automatic transmission with the Prestige petrol variant.

Price

Here is the pricing of the new variants:

Variants

Price (ex-showroom)

Alcazar Corporate Diesel MT

Rs 17.87 lakh

Alcazar Corporate Diesel AT

Rs 19.29 lakh

Alcazar Prestige Petrol DCT

Rs 18.64 lakh

All You Need To Know

The new Corporate diesel variant is offered with the 7-seater layout only, and gets LED headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, push button start stop, dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a wireless phone charger, ambient lighting, connected car tech and safety features like 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESC and hill-start assist.

The Prestige variant also gets all the abovementioned features.

The Alcazar comes with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine that makes 160 PS and 253 Nm and a 1.5-litre diesel engine that puts out 116 PS and 250 Nm. A 6-speed manual transmission is offered as standard, while the petrol gets a 7-speed DCT and the diesel gets a 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission.

Price And Rivals

The Alcazar is priced from Rs 14.99 lakh to Rs 21.7 lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with SUVs like the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700, and Tata Safari.

Hyundai is a carmaker that gives the buyer what they want. Features are not something that customers are willing to sacrifice on, and with so many alternatives available in the market, potential buyers might move ahead and pick some other car. Now that the diesel is being offered with the popular feature, more buyers might consider picking the engine option.

In an SUV like Alcazar, there is a significant need for automatic transmission being offered with lower-spec variants. So kudos to Hyundai for making the 7-speed DCT more accessible.
