Honda has launched the 50th Anniversary Gold Wing Tour in India
Over the regular 2025 model, the 50th Anniversary edition only gets a bunch of stickers and a different colour scheme
Priced at Rs 39,90,000 (ex-showroom, Gurugram)
Just when we thought it was done, Honda has launched yet another motorcycle in India. This time, though, it is a rather (un)special one, the 50th Anniversary Gold Wing Tour. Why are we disappointed? Well, celebrating half a century of existence is no small feat. But Honda has celebrated this anniversary only with a bare minimium aesthetic updates on the Gold Wing Tour.
Launched internationally in February, the 50th Anniversary Gold Wing Tour comes with two colours: Bordeaux Red Metallic and Eternal Gold. But in India, we only get the Bordeaux Red Metallic colour scheme, which nowhere looks nearly as special as the gold one. The latter even came with ‘wood’-like finish on the body panels for an authentic retro look.
The bike retains its buttery smooth and utterly reliable 1,833cc flat-six engine, which makes 126.5PS and 170Nm, and is paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
It now gets a special Gold Wing emblem with “50th Anniversary” and “since 1975” detailing on top of the fuel tank and on the smart key fob to celebrate the bike’s long history. While we expected them to have premium 3D badging, these are sadly just stickers.
In terms of features, the Honda Gold Wing gets a 7-inch TFT console which supports Bluetooth connectivity and has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. It gets four riding modes: Tour, Sport, Econ and Rain. Rider aids include dual-channel ABS, traction control and even an airbag!
The Gold Wing also comes with an audio system which has been improved in the 2025 model. Other features include an electronically adjustable windscreen, two USB Type-C sockets, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System and more.
The Honda Gold Wing has always been a sought-after tourer internationally. Ever since its inception way back in 1975 as the GL1000, the Gold Wing is known for its immense reliability, the couch-like comfort and ultra-smooth riding experience. After 50 years, the Gold Wing has aged like wine, but the 50th Anniversary edition that India got doesn’t do justice to the bike’s storied history at all.
Heck, Honda gives European customers, we quote from Honda’s European press release: “...an exclusive, limited-edition half-and-half scale replica. This premium collectible, measuring 11 inches wide by 6 inches high, beautifully highlights the evolution of the Gold Wing, featuring the original design on one side and the current model on the other.”
We have to say, that scale model looks ultra cool as you don’t usually see such unique half-and-half design! Honda, the special edition Gold Wing deserves SO MUCH better!
