Hyundai isn't treating the 2025 Venue as a routine update. While the sharper design and premium cabin are clear upgrades, the bigger story is what has changed underneath. The new Venue adds the sought-after diesel automatic, introduces drive and traction modes, and takes a massive leap in safety with Level 2 ADAS and 33 standard safety features across variants. The changes are not merely cosmetic; they are more structural and mechanical, thereby placing the Venue as one of the most future-ready subcompact SUVs.
Hyundai still offers the Venue with three engines - a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol, a 1-litre turbo-petrol and a 1.5-litre diesel. Where things differ for 2025 is in how these engines are supported by transmission options and driving modes.

The 1.2-litre petrol remains the familiar and reliable city engine, offering smoothness and efficiency for daily commuters. It is paired with a manual transmission, and it's ideal for those who value simplicity over performance. The 1-litre turbo-petrol is still the enthusiast's pick. It produces 120 PS and 172 Nm, and, more importantly, Hyundai has retained the 7-speed DCT while also offering a 6-speed manual for those who like full control. This powertrain remains the most responsive and engaging setup in this Venue.

The biggest mechanical change comes with the diesel. Hyundai continues the 1.5-litre diesel with 116 PS and 250 Nm, and it can now be paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission along with the pre-existing 6-speed manual. For highway users and long-distance commuters who simply prefer the torque-rich, low-stress driving feel of a diesel, this upgrade dramatically broadens the Venue's appeal.

What’s also significant is the availability of drive modes and traction modes. Eco, Normal and Sport modes have an influence on throttle and gearbox responses, while Snow, Mud and Sand adjust wheel control and torque delivery.
The safety story of the Venue is no longer confined to 6 airbags and ABS. For the new generation, Hyundai has given it a reinforced structure comprising 71 per cent high-strength steel, including hot-stamped zones that improve crash energy absorption. More importantly, 33 safety features are now standard across all variants and not just reserved for the top trims.

The standard package contains six airbags, all-wheel disc brakes, electronic stability control, hill-start assist, tyre-pressure monitoring, and an electric parking brake with auto hold. Atop this stack is Level 2 ADAS. The system contains Forward Collision Warning and Avoidance, Lane Keeping Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go, and Blind-Spot Assistance.
Other features, such as the Blind View Monitor and Surround View Monitor, improve visibility and reduce the possibility of low-speed impacts from congested traffic or tight parking situations.
The outgoing Venue built its reputation on convenience features and a premium cabin. The 2025 Venue now adds substance. Hyundai has brought in the diesel automatic option, strengthened the powertrain lineup with more control and flexibility, and introduced Level 2 ADAS. The Venue has evolved into a subcompact SUV that offers choice, capability, and safety in equal measure. Whether rivals respond with more tech or more powertrains remains to be seen, but for now, the Venue sets a new benchmark.
