Mahindra has been growing multifold in recent years, with exciting SUVs like the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Scorpio N, XUV700 and Thar. Most of their SUVs offer both petrol and diesel powertrain options for its customers. That being said, the diesel XUV700 has been selling in numbers that are significantly higher than its petrol counterpart. Let’s take a look at the figures of both petrol and diesel XUV700:

As seen in the table above, only 29 percent of XUV700 April 2024 sales consists of the petrol powertrain and the rest are for the diesel variants. Also, one can see that sales for both the versions in April 2024 have improved when compared to the same month last year.
The petrol engine available with the XUV700 is a 2-litre turbo-petrol producing 200 PS and 380 Nm. As for the diesel engines, you either get the option of a 2.2-litre diesel engine which makes 185 PS and 450 Nm or the same engine in a lower tune producing 155 PS and 360 Nm. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmission.
The Mahindra XUV700 is priced from Rs 13.99 lakh to Rs 26.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The XUV700 7-seater rivals the likes of the Tata Safari, MG Hector Plus and Hyundai Alcazar, while the 5-seater version locks horns with the Tata Harrier, MG Hector, Hyundai Creta, and Kia Seltos.
