MG Cloud EV teased for the first time in India
It is sold as a Wuling offering in international markets
Top features include a free-floating 15.6-inch touchscreen, wireless phone charger and 4 airbags
International model gets a 50.6kWh battery with a CLTC claimed range of 460km
Prices could start from around the Rs 20 lakh mark when launched around the festive season in India
After being spied testing just recently, the MG Cloud EV has now been officially teased for the first time ahead of its expected launch around the upcoming festive season. It is a crossover-SUV sold under the Wuling name in international markets and it’s likely to get the same treatment as the little Comet EV in India. The teaser is rather short, giving us just a few cues and here’s what we know about it so far:
The teaser reveals pretty much nothing apart from the fact that it gets a connected LED DRL strip on its nose. Going by the international model, expect a silhouette that looks like an amalgam of an SUV and a crossover, with the size of a regular compact SUV like the Creta or Seltos.
The Cloud EV’s nose features a split headlight setup with a rather chunky headlight housing in the bumper. The side profile looks long, courtesy of the long roofline and crease-less contours. It sits on chic-looking 18-inch alloys and we hope these make way to India as well!
Just like the front, the rear gets a simple connected strip for its taillight, spanning the width of the tailgate. Note, that the India-spec model could pack a few unique styling cues over the global model.
While there are no teaser or spy images for the Cloud’s cabin, you can expect the layout to be similar to the global model. Going by that, the cabin could be minimalistic, dominated by a 15.6-inch free-floating touchscreen that takes centre stage. The theme is black, contrasted by splashes of bronze all around the cabin and a wood inlay on the dashboard; but the India-spec model could get a different theme.

As for features, the Cloud EV sold abroad gets plenty including an 8.8-inch digital driver’s display, 6-way powered driver seat, automatic climate control with rear AC vents, and a wireless phone charger. The teaser does confirm the presence of a panoramic sunroof.
4 airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), hill hold assist, electronic parking brake, a 360-degree camera, and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features make up its safety kit.
MG is yet to divulge any detail or even hint about the Cloud’s powertrain. A 50.6 kWh battery pack is offered in the Indonesian market, which is paired with a front-wheel mounted single 136 PS/200 Nm electric motor. The setup has a CLTC-claimed (China Light Duty Vehicle Test Cycle) range of 460 km.
Alternatively, other global markets also get a smaller 37.9 kWh battery pack with a claimed range of 360km. It is unclear which powertrain will make its way to India.
We expect the Cloud EV to be priced from around the Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom) mark, which would place it below the already-existing ZS EV SUV.
The crossover SUV could be launched around the upcoming festive season, where it would put up a fight against the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV 400 and the entry-level variants of the Tata Curvv EV.
