Quick News Highlights
Is Rs 3,059 more affordable than the SmartXonnect Variant
Is offered in 2 colour schemes
Gets a new colour LCD console with smartphone connectivity
TVS has launched a new variant of the Jupiter 125 called the Jupiter 125 DT SXC. This new variant comes with a few changes, including new colours and features. It is priced at Rs 88, 943 (ex-showroom, Delhi), and here’s everything you need to know:
The most visible change on the new scooter is the new colour schemes. The TVS Jupiter 125 DT SXC variant gets an Ivory Brown and a Ivory Grey colour option. Both colours have dual tone finishes, with the middle section of the apron, the handlebar cowl and the body panels getting a brown/grey paint finish depending on the colour scheme. The apron’s sides on the other hand features a white finish.
The dual-tone colour looks a lot more premium, with classy undertones. We might even go as far ahead and say this looks more expensive than the actually-costlier top-end SmartXonnect variant. The addition of a pillion backrest similar to that offered on the TVS Jupiter 125 SmartXonnect variant, this should improve pillion comfort.
Another major change is the addition of a new colour LCD console. The console has a clean layout, with the speed, fuel level, battery level readouts on the right hand side and it looks quite nice. The console also gets smartphone connectivity and features such as turn-by-turn navigation and call/SMS alerts. It also has real time and average mileage indicators as well.
Other than the addition of the new colours and console, the variant is similar to the top-of-the-line TVS Jupiter 125 SmartXonnect variant. It is still powered by the same 124.8cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with iGO assist. The engine produces 8.1PS and 10.5Nm, and with the iGo Assist, the engine outputs 8.5PS and 11.5Nm.
It gets the same telescopic fork and inverted twin shock-absorber setup. It rolls on 12-inch alloy wheels, with braking duties handled by a 220mm petal disc and a 130mm drum brake at the rear.
The TVS Jupiter 125 DT SXC variant looks aesthetically pleasing. The new console even manages to look better than the split LCD-TFT setup which we have seen on the SmartXonnect variant. The new console has all the essential features needed, like turn-by-turn navigation. Although it doesn’t get voice assisted navigation, we don’t feel like this is a big miss overall.
Though Suzuki and Honda recently updated their 125cc scooters with TFT screen-equipped variants, TVS already had the tech in the Jupiter 125. What the Hosur-based brand has now done is introduce a more affordable connected variant that neatly rounds off the practicality of the scooter without making it too expensive. Afterall, the Suzuki Access 125 Ride Connect Edition is priced at Rs 95,100 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is Rs 6,157 more expensive than the Jupiter 125. This makes the new Jupiter 125 variant a real value for money product considering it also gets a massive 33 litres (largest in segment), and the convenience of an apron-mounted fuel tank cap (only one in the 125cc scooter segment to have the feature).
