The TVS Jupiter CNG scooter has been unveiled
It is the world’s first CNG scooter
Features the same look and underpinnings as the Jupiter 125
TVS India has unveiled the brand new CNG powered TVS Jupiter in India. This is the first CNG powered two-wheeler from the brand, and the second CNG powered two wheeler model in the world. Here’s a brief overview of what the Jupiter CNG has to offer.
The scooter features a similar design and styling as the TVS Jupiter 125. It maintains the same look and from afar, it is hard to notice this is a CNG scooter. Only once you open the underseat storage will you notice the difference.
The scooter features a 1.4kg CNG tank, which has been mounted in the underseat storage. This has taken away almost all of the storage space. The CNG tank also offers a small opening which shows the pressure gauge that allows you to see how much CNG is still left in the tank.
Along with the CNG tank, the scooter also offers a 2-litre fuel tank which has been placed at the floorboard. With the petrol and CNG tank, the scooter offers a claimed range of 226km. The brand also claims the scooter can go 84km in 1kg of CNG.
The scooter is powered by a 124.8cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which outputs 7.1PS and 9.4Nm. This is a drop of 1PS and 1.1Nm when compared to the petrol-powered TVS Jupiter 125. The scooter features the same underpinnings as the Jupiter 125, and very little has been changed.
The scooter could likely be launched in India by the end of 2025 or the beginning of 2026. Indian manufacturers working to build more CNG two-wheelers is a welcome move, and will help reduce carbon emissions overall. Currently, the two-wheeler CNG segment only has one model, which is the Bajaj Freedom 125 CNG bike. With the addition of the Jupiter CNG, customers will have an alternative to look forward to.
