Pierer Mobility AG has officially been renamed Bajaj Mobility AG, marking a major shift in the global two-wheeler industry. The change follows Bajaj Auto’s complete acquisition of KTM AG, giving the Indian manufacturer full control of the Austrian motorcycle brand.
The new identity came into effect on January 13, 2026, after Bajaj Auto completed the takeover late last year through its subsidiary, Bajaj Auto International Holdings BV (BAIH BV). Bajaj now holds a 74.9 percent stake in KTM AG, making it the majority owner and decision-maker.

Along with the renaming, the company has introduced a new corporate logo. However, KTM’s headquarters will remain in Mattighofen, Austria, ensuring that operations continue from their long-standing base.
Bajaj Mobility AG will now serve as the holding company for KTM Group’s main motorcycle brands: KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas, bringing them under a more focused and structured management setup.

The takeover comes at a crucial time for KTM, which has been dealing with financial challenges over the past few years. Rising costs and declining sales had put significant pressure on the company before Bajaj stepped in.
As part of an ongoing recovery plan, KTM has initiated several cost-cutting measures. Around 500 employees have been laid off to reduce expenses and simplify operations. As of December 31, 2025, KTM AG employs 3,794 people after the recent workforce reduction.
KTM CEO Gottfried Neumeister described the job cuts as a “difficult but necessary step” to ensure long-term stability. The company has also removed an entire layer of management to make decision-making faster and more efficient.

Going forward, KTM will concentrate solely on its main motorcycle brands. Neumeister confirmed that the company will prioritise KTM, Husqvarna, and GasGas, while moving away from non-core activities.
In line with this strategy, KTM has already exited several ventures. The Felt bicycle brand has been sold, the X-Bow car project (A really sad day for ultra-light road-legal track car enthusiasts, but it is what it is) has been discontinued, partnerships with MV Agusta have ended, and CFMoto’s European distribution has been stopped.

Under Bajaj Mobility AG, KTM aims to regain financial stability and strengthen its global presence. With Bajaj’s resources and manufacturing expertise, the company is expected to focus on efficiency, profitability, and long-term growth.
While the restructuring process is still underway, the formation of Bajaj Mobility AG signals a clear plan to rebuild KTM for the future.
