The updates come to the scooter’s design, mechanicals, as well as features

Yamaha has unveiled the updated TMax in Europe. The latest iteration of the sporty scooter benefits from various changes cutting across its design, mechanicals, and features. Here's a low-down.

The 2022 TMax now features a more compact bodywork. The fascia looks sporty and houses a slimmer LED headlight setup. There's also a new electronically adjustable windscreen with a central air vent.

It also gets a new 7-inch full-colour TFT dash with Bluetooth connectivity, giving you access to music, weather updates, call alerts, and other notifications. It even gets a Garmin Maps connection. Other standard features include heated grips and cruise control, and all these can be accessed using the new joystick-like switchgear on the left side.

The 2022 Yamaha TMax retains the same motor -- a 560cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine dishing out 47PS at 7,500rpm and 55.7Nm at 5,250rpm.

The underpinnings have been revised; the 41mm USD fork and single rear shock have been tweaked for better front-end feel and damping at the rear, respectively. The braking hardware is the same as before -- dual 262mm front discs and a 282mm rear disc with ABS.

Yamaha has equipped the 2022 TMax with Spin forged alloys wrapped in Bridgestone Battlax SC2 tyres. These wheels are lighter than before and help reduce the rolling inertia.

The only sporty Yamaha maxi-scooter in India is the Aerox 155, and we reckon it'll be a long time before the Japanese bike maker launches any of its bigger maxi-scooters here. Till then, the closest you can get to a large maxi-scooter here is the expensive BMW C 400 GT.
