This pocket rocket can handle a lot more spirited riding than before

In Malaysia for 2022, Honda has updated the naked CB250R with a few but critical updates, making it a sportier proposition than before. Priced at RM 23,999(Rs 4.27 lakh before taxes), Honda has managed to cap the premium at just RM 1,000(Rs 17,800), which makes the deal even sweeter.

In this update, the 2022 CB250R gets Showa 41mm Separate Function Fork – Big Piston (SFF-BP) upside-down fork(USD); And at the rear, it gets the same 5-step preload adjustable monoshock. Also on the list of updates is an LCD instrument cluster now featuring a gear position indicator.

These SFF-BP fork help improve the manners of the motorcycle on the road while also shaving off some weight over the previous setup. In fact, the CB250R has a claimed weight of just 144 kg kerb. Add that with a 10.5-litre fuel tank and a seat height of 800 mm, spirited riding should certainly be on the cards on a day out with this motorcycle.

And why not? This entry-level sporty streetfighter features a proven 250cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that makes 27.2PS at 9,000rpm and 23.2 Nm at 8,000rpm. Mated to a six-speed gearbox, the bike also features a slipper clutch. For perspective, the KTM 250 Duke makes 30PS and 24Nm, but at 170kg kerb, it’s a mammoth in front of the CB250R.

The CB250R in Malaysia is offered in shades of Matt GunPowder, Black Metallic and Candy Chromosphere Red. Which is one more than what Honda offers on the CB300R here in India. That said, if Honda had launched the CB250R instead of the new CB300F in India, would you have liked it?
