Tata Nexon EV has reached the 50,000-units sales milestone.
It is offered in two guises: Prime (standard range) and Max (long range).
It took Tata nearly three years to achieve this feat.
15% of all Tata Nexons sold are Nexon EVs.
Prices for the Tata Nexon EV range between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Tata Nexon EV continues to be a crowd favourite even after nearly three years in the country, as the marque has just announced that the EV has crossed the 50,000-units sales mark in India. This sales milestone is a first for any EV in the country, and it doesn’t come as a surprise that it is the Nexon EV to break over that barrier, as it has been India's most popular EV since debut.

It was the Tata Nexon EV which first brought electric technology to the masses. It blurred the boundaries between EVs being an unaffordable technology and it being a relatively niche affordable technology. Sure, early adoption was slow, but as the time went on and the infrastructure started to cement, more people started to flock around the new technology. Also, the Nexon EV offering a decent real-world range at quite a decent price point was another main contributing factor.

Tata kept the spark of the electric sub-4m SUV alive by giving it updates throughout its lifetime, which came in the form of special editions and long-range variants. It even got a new trim recently, which brings more features to the standard SUV’s cabin. Currently, it can be had in Prime (standard range), Max(long range), and Dark Edition trims.
Three years since inception and the Nexon EV accounts for 15% of the total Nexon nameplate sales. It is part of one of the most expansive EV portfolios for any carmaker in India and sits alongside the Tiago EV and Tigor EV in the carmaker’s lineup.

Here’s what Mr. Vivek Srivatsa, Head, Marketing, Sales and Service Strategy, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd., said, “The Nexon EV was introduced as India’s own electric SUV with the aim of offering a cool, stylish, practical and real-world solution for faster EV adoption in India. The Nexon EV customers have grown to 50K in just 3 years. This is a testament to how India has embraced EVs as the mobility of the current times. We would like to thank the early adopters, who believed in the promise of the Nexon EV and in-turn allowed the EV ecosystem to build and become what it is now. We hope more people experience the promise of an EV and evolve to electric.”

In its Max guise, the Nexon EV is powered by a 40.5kWh battery pack, which feeds charge to a 143PS/250Nm front-wheel-drive electric motor. The setup has an ARAI-claimed range of 453km and supports fast charging, which allows for a 0-80 charge-up in 56 minutes using a 50kW charger. You can know the specification of its Prime variant here.

Prices for it, including the Prime, Max and Dark trims, range between Rs 14.49 lakh and Rs 19.54 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the chief rival of the Mahindra XUV400 and offers an affordable package compared to the MG ZS EV.
