It is no secret that Ola Electric is working on introducing an electric motorcycle. Not so long ago, the company CEO asked the twitterati what genre of bike they would like to see and now has confirmed that sportsbike, cruisers, adventure and roadsters, all are in the pipeline. In fact, the first e-motorcycle, slated to be a premium product, will debut as early as next year, followed by a mass-market product in 2024.
Committing to multiple products in the next two years is quite ambitious. The company is parallely working on an electric car too, and ensuring quality and reliability of such a wide array of products will prove to be a daunting task.
Then comes the popularity and usability of electric motorcycles. E-scooters score high on practicality and convenience, which make them a go-to option for anyone looking for commuting in the city with low running cost. With motorcycles, storage and practicality may not be the concerns; however, rideability, performance and range definitely are. So, how should Ola Electric really kickstart its e-motorcycle segment? Here’s our opinion.

Interestingly, the company doesn’t intend to just scale up to step into the two and four-wheeler market, but also localise battery manufacturing. By the end of 2023, the EV maker intends to commission its cell manufacturing plant with 5GWh capacity and aims to scale it up to 100GWh over the course of this decade.
The next product in the pipeline, however, is the Ola S1 Air, which has been priced on par with the likes of the Honda Activa 6G.
