THIS Is What The Mahindra Thar.e Could Look Like!

As India celebrates its 79th Independence Day, Mahindra has something special for the nation. The Vision.T concept, also dubbed as the Thar.e: the electric version of the Thar. The Thar.e concept was first showcased in South Africa in 2023, and the Vision.T now appears to be an evolved iteration of that design. This concept retains the trademark boxiness of the Thar nameplate but brings a far more futuristic character. Here’s a detailed look:
Up front, the Vision.T looks significantly more evolved than the earlier Thar.e. The face carries a robotic vibe, featuring a dual-slot grille with a rectangular blocky pattern. There are vertical LED lighting elements are integrated on either side of the grille. The front bumper is chunky and sports contrasting yellow highlights around the central tow hook area. Unlike the ICE Thar and Thar Roxx, this concept features a largely blanked-off fascia, boasting its EV identity.

From the side, the Vision.T maintains a classic off-roader silhouette like its production-spec siblings, the Thar and Thar Roxx, but with EV-specific proportions. The chunky, bulging tyres make it look rugged, though this exaggerated look might be toned down for the production version. This is a five-door layout. The squared-off ORVMs, box-shaped wheel arches with thick cladding, and hidden rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar (similar to the Thar Roxx) give it a muscular character.

At the rear, the first thing you notice is the large tailgate-mounted spare wheel with its futuristic 5-spoke alloy design. The squared-off tail lamps feature pixel-style LED elements, and below, there is a silver-finished skid plate.

Inside, the Vision.T has a tech-loaded dash, with a three-spoke steering wheel with toggle controls. There’s plenty of silver accents visible, while the main highlight is the humongous infotainment display in the centre. The same is also flanked by sort of some physical control buttons below. There’s a digital driver’s display
Mahindra hasn’t revealed technical details about the powertrain, but it’s widely believed that the production version will indeed be the Thar.e. What we know is that it will be underpinned by the brand’s NU IQ platform, which is capable of carrying ICE and hybrid models too, hence putting us in a little dilemma if it could take final shape to something else as well. Besides, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive setup is fair to expect.
The Vision.T comes across as a more evolved and production-ready iteration of the Thar.e concept showcased earlier. While not all design elements may make it to the assembly line, the EV-specific styling cues for sure make us excited. Considering the Thar nameplate’s immense popularity, and Mahindra’s recent success with the BE 6 and XEV 9e born-electric SUVs, the Thar.e, if launched soon, could prove to be a hammer hit on the hot iron.

Let us know in the comments what you think about this Vision.T concept.
